With the traditional semiconductor component markets struggling to keep pace with the galloping demand, other geographies have emerged to fill the gap. A study projects India’s semiconductor component market cumulative revenues to climb to $300 billion during 2021-2026, reports Shivani Parashar.
Samsung continues to hold strong in Latin America. In Q2 2022, Samsung’s share in the market’s shipments was at an all-time high of 43.5%. It was one of the few OEMs that were able to resolve or significantly improve the supply chain issue, says Tina Lu.

  • It will take 4-6 years for most of the excess capacity from investments mentioned in the article to come online.
  • Over the short-to-medium term, inventories should normalize –the cycle of under and oversupply is a fact of life, though it is especially pronounced in some sectors like memory.
  • But this time around, subsidy intervention could disrupt these cycles. I think we’ll see the real impact of this long term, with the potential exit of one or more uncompetitive ‘big’ players.
