Dear ICB Community,
Assalamu Alaikum.
We hope everyone had a wonderful Eid-ul-Adha celebration, and those who were blessed to go for Hajj, Hajj Mubarak to you! May Allah accept your Hajj. If you made this momentous journey this year, kindly reach out to me at president@Icbwayland.org as we would love to invite you to share your experiences.
I am happy to share the appointment of Shua Islam to fill the vacant seat of the ICB Board Secretary position. She has previously served on the ICB Board at the time of our Center's renovation, as well as having served several other organizations in a similar capacity. We finally have a full board and will be planning our next year's agenda in the coming weeks.
We are also excited to have Emaan Tariq join our Youth Group (YG) team as YG Coordinator. Emaan is a Sunday school alumna and a previous YG board member. She graduated recently from UMass Amherst and is passionate and excited about the youth group so much so that she approached several board members on this initiative. It is heart-warming when our young people come back and join us to serve the community, and I encourage any other interested alumni to contact me. The board looks forward to working with Emaan on launching youth programs for this fall.
Looking forward to August, we will be starting our programming with our ICB Brunch. Details to follow shortly. We are also excited to have Sunday School in-person this year Insha Allah, and appreciate all the hard work the Sunday School team is putting in to prepare for its start. (See Principal's section for details). The Religious Advisory Committee is also hard at work bringing in new programming for fall (See Imam's section for more details).
As I write this, the current Islamic year 1443 AH has just come to an end, and we begin 1444 with the month of Muharram. The start of a new year marks the year of Prophet's migration from Mecca to Medina, a period of hope as it was the starting point for establishing a new Muslim community based on Islamic values. At the same time, the 10th day of this month, known as Ashura, is commemorated by Muslims by fasting, as was practiced by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), in memory of the day Allah saved the Jews, as Prophet Musa (Moses) led them away from the wrath of Egypt's Pharaoh, by parting the Red Sea to allow them to cross safely. The Day of Ashura also marks the sacrifice, Hussain ibn Ali (grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)), made with martyrdom, by standing up to injustice and for righteousness. We respect and value this month in diverse ways and encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect and renew your commitment to our faith.
Humbly,
Farah Abbas

Dear children, sisters and brothers
A warm welcome to our new members at ICB Wayland! And a special welcome to you all as the summer winds down and we look forward to the new academic year beginning! With the advent of autumn, and the smell of freshly picked peaches and apple pie just around the corner, we’re beginning to think about our religious programming from now through the winter.
We are currently hosting virtual Tajweed lessons weekly through early September. Each week we have one lesson for the youth, 12 to 17 years of age, and one lesson for the adults. These are taught by Dr. Ali Al-Hathlool, who is an incredible teacher and scholar! To register for these sessions please visit: https://icbwayland.org/TajweedClass2022.html
We’re also in the process of planning sessions this fall for the community, all virtually held, to keep us engaged and enriched spiritually.
ICB Wayland sincerely hopes that you remain healthy and well, and enjoy these beautiful last days of summer, special times to be spent with loved ones. We also remember and pray for all who are experiencing difficulties and challenging times. In both good times as well as challenging moments, we are reminded to constantly be aware of and have taqwa in Allah Most High.
Dr. Abrar Qureshi
Director of Religious Affairs / Imam

Assalamu 'Alaikum ICB Community
I am honored to serve the community as the next Director of Education and Principal of the AM Sunday school program. I'm grateful to inherit a thriving program from the previous administration. Alhamdulillah! I was first introduced to ICB Wayland through a friend in 2013 and instantly fell in love with this warm and welcoming community. Since then, I've had the pleasure of serving ICB in many capacities from snack duty, assistant principal, event lead, curriculum development, Vision 2018 member, teaching and more. During my term, my intention is to continue to support our student-centered Sunday School program and continue to foster a community where everyone feels like they belong.
Both the AM and PM administrative teams are busy this summer getting ready to welcome our students back to a regular full in person schedule for the first time since the start of the pandemic, inshallah. We are struggling with a critical shortage of Arabic teachers. If you are interested in teaching or co-teaching in either program please reach out to me directly at DirectorEducation@icbwayland.org.
Looking forward to continuing to serve this community,
Amanda Zaman
