Logistics for Secotan Market

Secotan Market Shelter (Saturdays)
2868 NC HWY 345, Wanchese 27981
Approximately 2.5 miles south of the Hwy 64 junction, Secotan Market is on the west side of Highway 345. When heading towards the village of Wanchese, look for the big wooden shelter on the right with a green tin roof. We are just before Village Hardware, the Shell gas station and Baumtown Road. Pull into the market’s gravel lane just beyond where the speed limit drops to 35 mph.

Cool Season Markets

Secotan Market Hosted by Island Farm (Wednesdays)
Island Farm is located at 1140 N US Hwy 64 on Roanoke Island, approximately 2 miles north of the town of Manteo between Buzzy Lane and Etheridge Rd on the west side of Hwy 64. Island Farm's large wooden windmill (on the east side of the highway along the bike path) is directly across from the entrance to the site where there is ample parking in front of their Visitor's Center and in overflow lots on Buzzy Lane.

MARKET SCHEDULE AT ISLAND FARM
Every Wednesday, June-August
 9 AM - 12 PM

Transactions: As at most farmers' markets, every producer will handle their own sales; there is no central "check out." Most producers are currently set up to take cards, checks or cash. If paying with cash, please come prepared with many types of bills to avoid the need to make change. At our Wanchese market shelter, we can accept SNAP EBT cards as well. Participants will receive tokens to spend freely with any of our vendors that sell SNAP-eligible foods.

Entrance, Exit and Parking in Wanchese: As you turn to pull onto our gravel lane, please be mindful of vehicles that may be attempting to exit at the same time. Upon entering and rounding the curve in the lane, follow the parking signs to our designated parking area. It is a large gravel lot beyond the market shelter. Do your best to pull in as close as you can to other vehicles so that we can safely accommodate as many customers as possible.

Our parking lot allows folks to park in 2-3 parallel rows, the first row facing the adjacent home to the north and the other rows facing the market shelter. This allows enough space for everyone to maneuver in and out of the parking area and back to the gravel driveway. Our priority is everyone's safety, so please drive slowly! If you have questions about the best place to park during busy times, please stop and ask one of the producers on hand and someone will direct you!

Overflow Parking: In some cases when the lot is approaching capacity, it may be necessary to safely and carefully park along the shoulder of HWY NC-345 near the market. Please DO NOT PARK within 50 ft of the market entrance so we can maintain visibility for those exiting to the highway.  Remember to be courteous to other customers and drivers on Hwy 345. Thank you!
