1. Engaging Sheep Farmers CPD
Do you want some fresh ideas? Or perhaps you or one of your colleagues lack confidence in what you can offer your sheep farmers and you would like to join Sheep Veterinary Society & ourselves in some brand new CPD that is particularly aimed at practitioners who want to maximise the value of a vet visit to a sheep farm.

3. Sheep Sector in focus
As from last week, all of the ‘Responsible Use’ articles for the Sheep Sector in focus campaign are now live on the RUMA site. The campaign comprises a range of case studies, commentary pieces and in-conversation articles demonstrating the commitment of the sector to the responsible use of medicines. We hear from Phil Stocker about the importance of data collection, there are features and case studies on Farm Vet Champions, the WLBP AMU calculator and Medicine Hub, and Fiona sharing insight into the work of the RUMA Targets Task Force and the creation of the Sheep Antibiotic Guardian Group (SAGG).

4. Farm Vet Champions.
Update to a bit of double counting that unfortunately we reported in our previous newsletter. In fact, there are currently over 700 Farm Vet Champions - we hope that are you one of them?
Not only is there over 20 hours of free CPD that every member of your practice team is entitled to access but also you can join together as teams & set yourself interactive SMART goals.
From July to October, APHA will be offering free testing for Haemonchus where sheep present with anaemia, with no diarrhoea, and sub-cutaneous oedema (bottle jaw) or where Haemonchus may be suspected. You can submit samples using the Small Ruminant submission form to APHA VIC, Job’s Well Road, Johnstown, Carmarthen SA31 3EZ. When submitting samples please write FREE HAEMONCHUS TESTING and include history of recent treatments.
Otherwise, we have been contacted by Eric Morgan who says: Please let us know if you are doing FECRT and you can send through an aliquot of faeces for research on species surviving treatment. Species information will be sent back at no charge within a few weeks - for more information please contact eric.morgan@qub.ac.uk"
