Singing on the SUP
Dear Reader,
I'm not much of a singer, but I love singing. I didn't get the talent of singing a solo, like Placido Domingo or Luciano Pavarotti - one of those tenors or baritones that can just blast it out. I'm not like that, I don't have that talent, but I love doing it.
So what do I do? What can one do?
I want the joy from singing. So what I do is: I've learned the words to a big song like Va, Pensiero* (which I can now sing from memory) and I get on my stand up paddleboard (SUP), go to the middle of the lake where no one can hear me except the fish, and there I can have my performance and sing at the top of my lungs, having fun. Sometimes I even fall off the board, because I'm having so much fun singing that I forget that I'm supposed to be paddling.
This brings me immense joy and you know, I'm not harming anyone. There are no eardrums within earshot except the poor fish that have nowhere to go, they just have to listen to Nico’s opera concert.
What about you? Is there an activity that you really love, that you maybe have secretly enjoyed in the past and you're not doing right now? Maybe you can just do it, like me, somewhere in private, where you are just having fun?
Because when I come back, I'm refreshed. I feel great. My lungs are cleared, I'm full of energy.
Joy can be ours, we just need to grasp every opportunity to get it.
There you have it. Hope you enjoyed it. Let's all find that activity that brings us tons of joy this week and see you next week.
