After 2016, 2018, and 2021, the African Leadership in Vaccinology Expertise (ALIVE) is again organising its African Advanced Vaccinology Course (Afro-ADVAC). Afro-ADVAC is a 10-day course in advanced vaccinology, aimed at decision-makers in the field of vaccinology. It will take place in April 2023 near Johannesburg, South Africa. Afro-ADVAC is a residential course in English language with in-person lectures, workshops and interactive sessions.

The course is targeted at medical and allied medical practitioners and scientists (minimum MSc) working in academia, government, non-government and industry. Applicants should have at least 5 years of experience in the field of vaccines/immunisation, with evidence of research and/or policy output. 


Objective: Afro-ADVAC aims to develop expertise in vaccinology on the African continent and foster research collaboration and informed decision-making by key professional bodies on immunisation practices and policies in Africa.

Date: 17 to 26 April 2023

Venue: Glenburn Lodge, Muldersdrift, Gauteng, South Africa

Cost: Full scholarships are available for selected LMIC delegates. Industry and HIC delegate fees tbc. Accommodation can be arranged with course organisers.
