This Week at St. Anthony Parish

August 7, 2022  I  Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not be afraid any longer, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your belongings and give alms. Provide money bags for yourselves that do not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven that no thief can reach nor moth destroy. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be. (Lk. 12: 32-34)

Read today's gospel.

Setting the Table with Fr. Arthur

Grab your coffee and Set the Table with Fr. Arthur this morning! Listen as Fr. touches on the main themes within each of today's Mass readings. We hope these insights will enrich the celebration of the Mass for you today!

Go Go SGOs!

What's more valuable than an education rooted in Christ? Consider making a donation to the Scholarship Granting Organization of Northeast Indiana (SGONEI).

The SGONEI was founded in 2011 to provide low and middle-income families with scholarships to attend Catholic schools in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.

Gifts to the SGO will ensure that more students in our community will receive a Catholic education!

If you make an SGO donation, you can ensure that your gift will be directly applied to the cost of tuition for students at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic School. PLUS, individuals, corporations, partnerships, LLCs, PCs, and those who are self-employed are all eligible to receive 50% of their donation back in the form of a state tax credit.

To learn more about the SGONEI and SGO Donations, visit sgonei.org

To talk with a representative from St. Anthony de Padua Catholic School about SGO donations, or how SGOs and School Choice Scholarships make a Catholic education much more affordable than many think, contact Pam White at pwhite@stasb.org.

New Family Playdate & Uniform Exchange!

HASA would like to invite everyone to the second New Family Playdate and Uniform Exchange scheduled for this coming Thursday, August 11 at 6:30pm. This is a great opportunity for families to meet new school friends and to see friends we haven’t seen since the last school year.

Please feel free to check out the Uniform Exchange that will be set up on the picnic table. Bring your clean and gently used school uniforms that no longer fit to share, and take what others have to offer for your family.

We look forward to seeing everyone!

Save the Date: Back to School Night!

Monday, August 15: 6-7:30pm

Are you a St. Anthony School family? Join us on Monday, August 15 for Back to School Night from 6-7:30pm. We’ll kick the night off in the church at 6pm. We'll hear a few words from Father Arthur Joseph Ssembajja and Principal Karen Bogol as we begin the year, and teachers and staff will be introduced. Afterward, the school will be opened for families to visit classrooms and drop off supplies and forms, and more.

And don’t forget! The first day of school is Wednesday, August 17! Visit school.stasb.org for more details. If you haven't already, you can read the annual Back to School Newsletter that went out on Friday, at the button below!

Do you know a responsible young person interested in gaining work experience and some income?

We are interested in supporting young adults (14 or older) interested in having a part-time job. If you know a responsible 14-year-old interested in working 6-12 hours a week after school, we would love to speak with him or her!  Jobs include light cleaning (vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, assisting with event set up/tear down, and some weeding/mulching).

Another possible position could be providing supervision for younger students while teachers are in meetings after school. This would be 2-4 hours a week.
