For those of you who are new to the club, many of the traditions of yachting come from our links to the naval past of the sport. Sail Past is a parade of boats past the Commodore’s boat.
The Commodore’s Sail Past is held each year in August or September. Skippers are encouraged to decorate their boats and crew to make the event more interesting. After sailing past the Commodore, the boats make their way back to harbour, to enjoy some live music in the clubhouse.
This year there is an optional theme of dressing up as pirates which will certainly appeal to the younger family members of boat owners and their guests. It is always a very colourful occasion with music playing and horns blaring from sail boats, power boats and ribs. There are so many good viewing places around the harbour, particularly from The Waterfront.
The boats will muster at the far end of North Harbour at 3.45pm ready to set off at 4pm.
Please can all participating boats listen out on Channel 17 at all times during the procession and beforehand for instructions on the day.
Music from Kevin Ticehurst and DJ Keith will be closing the evening of celebrations.
And the club are delighted to welcome back Charlie Fowler as
David Bowie at 9pm.
Please can bookings be made for dinner tonight as it will undoubtedly be busy.
We will be offering the normal menu plus the weekly specials.
THANK YOU
