— Lunch for 2022-23 —
General Lunch Procedures for 2022-23
Now that the federal USDA program that reimbursed schools for lunches has ended, River Grove will go back to offering hot and cold school lunch options for purchase.
  • As usual, parents will be able to place an order for lunches in two-week periods via a web form.
    • Placing an order on the web form will not cause a charge to your account; students are charged only when they actually take a lunch.
  • Deposits to your lunch account can be made online via credit card in JMC (our student information system), or via cash or check (at Open House night or sent to the school office).
    • Instructions for how to make desposits to your JMC account wlll be sent closer to the start of school.
  • Students will have PIN numbers to use when purchasing a lunch.
  • Students signing up for gluten-free lunches must have a Special Diet Statement, signed by your medical professional, on file with the school. (See the Optional Forms on the school's website.)
More information will be sent prior to the start of school.

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications 2022-23
We encourage all families to complete the Application for Educational Benefits 2022-23.  Your children may qualify for free or reduced-price school meals.  A new application must be submitted each year. This application also helps the school qualify for education funds and discounts, and may be used to determine scholarslhips for field trips.

Negative Account Balances
In accordance with state and federal law, River Grove adopts the following policy to ensure that families and students have a shared understanding of expectations regarding meal charges. The policy seeks to allow students to receive the nutrition they need to stay focused during the school day, prevent the overt identification of students with insufficient funds to pay for school meals, and maintain the financial integrity of the nonprofit school nutrition program.

Policy
  • Students have the use of a meal account. When the balance reaches $0.00 a student may charge no more than $15 to this account. After a student’s account is in arrears by $15 or more and the parent/guardian does not make payment to the lunch account, they will be notified that the Nutrition Services Department will provide an alternate reimbursable meal for lunch. Payment for these meals will be charged to the student’s account.
  • Deposits can be made online in JMC or money can be brought to the school office.
    • Instructions for how to make desposits to your JMC account wlll be sent closer to the start of school.
  • Students who qualify for free meals shall never be denied a reimbursable meal, even if they have accrued a negative balance from previous purchases.
