We Praise God

Greetings:  “What Is a Farmer?” by Bill Brady

Opening Prayer

Hymn:  Stewards of the Earth     Finlandia     297

1          All praise to you, O God of all creation:
you made the world, and it is yours alone.
The planet earth you spun in its location
amid the stars adorning heaven’s dome.
We lease the earth but for a life’s duration,
yet for this life it is our cherished home.

2          With wondrous grace you clothed the earth in splendour;
with teeming life you filled the sea and land.
Instill in us a sense of awe and wonder
when we behold the bounty of your hand.
Then when we hear the voice of bird or thunder,
we hear the voice our faith can understand.

3          To tend the earth is our entrusted duty,
for earth is ours to use and not abuse.
O gracious God, true source of all resources,
forgive our greed that wields destruction’s sword.
Then let us serve as wise and faithful stewards
while earth gives glory to creation’s Lord.

Hymn:  Make Me a Channel of Your Peace  Prayer of St. Francis        684

1          Make me a channel of Your peace:
where there is hatred, let me bring Your love;
where there is injury, Your healing power,
and where there's doubt, true faith in You:
Chorus
Oh Spirit, grant that I may never seek
so much to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love with all my soul.

2          Make me a channel of Your peace:
where there's despair in life, let me bring hope;
where there is darkness, --- only light;
and where there's sadness, ever joy.
Chorus
Oh Spirit, grant that I may never seek
so much to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love with all my soul.

3          Make me a channel of Your peace:
it is pardoning that we are pardoned,
in giving to [each one] that we receive,
and in dying that we're born to eternal life.

A New Creed:            A New Creed              918

All       We are not alone,
we live in God’s world.

We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus,
the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others
by the Spirit.

We trust in God.

We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God’s presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.

In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.

Thanks be to God.

Hymn: It’s a Song of Praise to the Maker    Praise to the Maker MV 30

1          It’s a song of praise to the Maker,
the thrush sings high in the tree.
It’s a song of praise to the Maker,
the gray whale sings in the sea,

Refrain:
And by the Spirit you and I
can join our voice to the holy cry
and sing, sing, sing to the Maker too.

2          It’s a call of life to the Giver
when waves and waterfalls roar.
It’s a call of life to the Giver
when high tides break on the shore,

3          It’s a song of love to the Lover;
the bumblebees hum along.
It’s a hymn of love to the Lover;
the summer breeze joins the song,

4          It’s the chorus of all creation;
it’s sung by all living things.
It’s the chorus of all creation;
a song the universe sings,

The Great Prayer of Thanksgiving:

1
M         The Lord be with you.
P          And also with you.
M         Lift up your hearts.
P          We lift them to the Lord.
M         Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
P          It is right to give God thanks and praise.

2
Therefore we lift up our voices with the faithful of every time and place,
joining with all creation and the glorious company of heaven
to praise and glorify your Holy Name!
P          Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Bless is the One who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

3
Accept our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving
as a living and holy offering of ourselves,
that our lives may proclaim the mystery of faith:
P          Dying you destroyed our death,
rising you restored our life.
Lord Jesus, come again in glory.

The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us of our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.  Amen.

Hymn:  Let All Things Now Living       The Ash Grove           242

1          Let all things now living
a song of thanksgiving
to God our creator triumphantly raise;
who fashioned and made us,
protected and stayed us,
by guiding us on to the end of our days.
God’s banners are o’er us,
pure light goes before us,
a pillar of fire shining forth in the night;
till shadows have vanished
and darkness is banished,
as forward we travel from light into Light.

2          By law God enforces,
the stars in their courses
and sun in its orbit obediently shine;
the hills and the mountains,
the rivers and fountains,
the depths of the ocean proclaim God divine.
We, too, should be voicing
our love and rejoicing
with glad adoration a song let us raise:
till all things now living
unite in thanksgiving
to God in the highest, hosanna and praise.

Blessing

The Companions’ Song:
One in love, one in friendship true,
one in hope, one in Spirit too,
one in faith that God will care for you
till we meet together again.
