Hello Whirlie Family,
I am excited to be serving as the Grimsley PTSA President along with the rest of the executive board. If you are already an established Whirlie Family, welcome back! We are looking forward to partnering with you again this year to support our staff and students! If you are new to Grimsley, let me briefly introduce our organization! The Grimsley PTSA is the only campus organization that supports ALL students. We actively seek out opportunities to play a vibrant role at the school by helping maintain our own unique sense of community, while also implementing the National PTA Values of collaboration, commitment, diversity, respect, and accountability.
I am proud of the successes our PTSA has accomplished and greatly appreciate the efforts of our Board to keep our Whirlie Family connected to our school as we navigated through the past few years. This is the first year in a while that I feel we are back to the way school is supposed to be, and I hope you will be an active member of our community by being involved in the PTSA. Please join us at our first meeting on Tuesday, August 9th at 5:30 PM in the cafeteria.

Beautification days at Grimsley!
The school year approaches and our historic campus needs some loving attention to look its best for our returning and new Whirlies! On Saturday, August 6, some helpful and capable students, staff, and families started the work on picking up trash, trimming shrubs and bushes, weeding, spreading pine mulch, and freshening the flower pots! But there's still some work to be done! There's one more opportunity left to volunteer to beautify Grimsley!
Wednesday, August 10, 9am-12pm: We will tackle all else that remains! Service Learning hours for students! Bring yard tools if you have them (rakes, clippers, shovels, loppers), gloves, and water. Snacks will be provided (and gloves if you don't have any)!

Gather in the Grove, August 14, 3PM – 4PM in the Grove
This event is for our rising 9th Grade families and other new Whirlie families to have an opportunity to meet Mr. O’Donnell in the Grove before Whirlie Nation on August 22nd. Ice cream sandwiches will be served.
Schedules will be mailed hometo all students on August 18.
If you did change address last school year or this summer, please contact Mrs. Duncan our school Registrar, to update your address. students with returned mail will not receive their schedule until we have received proof of new address. Thank you for understanding.
Schedule change request forms will go live on August 22 - this will be available on the school website.
Back-to-School Supplies: Cone Behavior Health and Guilford County are Partnering to provide a Back-to-School Drive for students in grades K-12! The event will take place on Saturday, August 20th from 11 AM – 3 PM on Grimsley’s campus. Come by to get some goodies and supplies for the upcoming school year! Shout out to Mr. Burnette for working to organize this event.
Whirlie Nation, August 22, 5PM – 7PM in the Grove. This event is for 9th – 12th Grade students and families to come learn about everything Grimsley! This is our Open House for you to meet our teachers, staff, and Admin Team. You will also have an opportunity to learn about clubs, join the PTSA & Grimsley Athletic Booster Club, purchase Whirlie Wear, and go on a campus tour with our Student Ambassadors. We will have the Taqueria El Azteca Taco Truck & Sunset Slush for you to purchase and enjoy during this exciting event!

Student Parking: The opportunity to purchase student parking passes is now live! Scan the QR Code and follow instructions to complete the parking pass form. The cost of parking on campus will be $50 for the entire year. Parking places will be based on the time stamp of purchase.
Ultimate Frisbee Club: For students interested in joining the Ultimate (frisbee) club… Join the Remind group for updates on meeting times. Text @grimsleyul to 81010 to receive updates. Parents and students are welcome to join. If you have questions email Mr. SanGeorge at sangeos@gcsnc.com. All are welcome from beginners to well seasoned players.
