This is an important step forward and reflects efforts over many years to address the climate emergency at the state level. Many people worked hard to make this a reality, and deserve our gratitude and appreciation. Let's use the urgency of this moment to fire us up for the coming days of action and reflection as we continue to face the challenges ahead with growing unity and determination.
Climate Action Now Monthly Gathering
Monday, August 22
7-8:30 PM
via Zoom
With the window to address the climate emergency narrowing, we will focus on what we can do to ensure that our city/town governments are doing everything possible to meet the urgency of this moment.
The Northampton Climate Emergency Coalition will share insights from a recent statewide Roundtable focused on maximizing the effectiveness of city/town climate initiatives via a climate crisis director.
How can we collaborate across cities and towns to support each other and to maximize the power of local efforts? After the presentation we will roll up our sleeves and strategize about how we can work together to amplify efforts in our own communities.
Location: Hitchcock Center for the Environment Directions
Date: August 27 from 1:30-5:30 Rain Date: August 28

New Climate Group in South Hadley!
South Hadley has a municipal light plant that sets it own energy policies. And yet, South Hadley has less than 1% renewable energy in its electricity portfolio.
What can we do?
Sustainable South Hadley is a new group of South Hadley residents joining together with the goal of moving South Hadley's electrical supply toward renewables, storage, and conservation. South Hadley can be a part of the solution to the unfolding climate crisis. For more information send an email to sustainablesouthhadley@gmail.com. Like Sustainable South Hadley on Facebook.
