External Updates/News

NSERC:  Introducing Alliance Missions: Anthropogenic greenhouse gas research
NSERC has officially launched Alliance Missions: Anthropogenic greenhouse gas research, a special call aimed to address issues related to climate change. This call supports the goals of the 2022 Federal Budget that prioritizes Canada’s ongoing efforts to combat climate change and protect the environment by taking action to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, while at the same time strengthening the Canadian economy with sustainable jobs and clean industrial growth.  Deadline for letters of intent is September 15, 2022.  For more information on this new program, please click here.

News from SSHRC:  Reminder: New Knowledge Synthesis Grant Competition: Gender-Based Violence
SSHRC and Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) recently launched a Knowledge Synthesis Grants (KSG) funding opportunity to assess the state of research knowledge on the topic of gender-based violence under SSHRC’s Imagining Canada’s Future initiative.  The focus of this call is on the state of knowledge on gender-based violence (GBV) in Canada. These KSGs support the synthesizing of existing knowledge and identifying knowledge gaps on this topic and stimulating knowledge mobilization.   Please note that this funding opportunity complements, but is also distinct from, the Gender-Based Violence Research Initiative competition recently launched. Both competitions are open concurrently with different deadlines and focus:  The goal of the KSGs is to examine and synthesize existing knowledge on gender-based violence. Gender-Based Research Violence Initiative partnership grants, however, aim to produce new research on particular themes related to GBV.  The deadline for KSG applications is September 1, 2022.

Natural Resources Canada:  Request for Information:  Zero Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative — Medium- and heavy-duty stream
The Zero Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative (ZEVAI) Request for Information (RFI) is seeking to collect information to gauge the interest and readiness levels of potential projects that would advance knowledge, awareness and confidence regarding medium- and heavy-duty zero emission or lower-carbon vehicles.  Deadline for submission of information:  September 12, 2022.  For more information, please click here.

NSERC:  PromoScience Call for Applications
Under this program NSERC is inviting submissions for initiatives that promote the natural sciences and engineering (NSE) to Canada's young people (in particular to under-represented and disadvantaged groups in NSE careers, including girls and Indigenous peoples).  The application deadline is September 15, 2022. Up to $200,000/year for 3 years can be requested, and only one application may be submitted per organization or department per competition year.
