VERGE 2022
San Jose, California, USA — 25-27 October 2022
Greenbiz is perhaps the most prominent organiser of conferences and events for mobilising businesses to "save the planet". On 26th October our team will be presenting at VERGE22 – their biggest climate conference ever. During the conference more than 200 sessions will take place where political, business and other leaders will discuss how to leverage the power of technology to address climate change and incentivise the transition to a green economy. Speakers include decision-makers from the Environmental Defense Fund, Microsoft and Carbon Capture.

Speaker: Dr Delton Chen, founder of the GCR, will be a featured speaker at VERGE 2022 together with Kim Stanley (Stan) Robinson, author of the book The Ministry for the Future: the novel that popularised the idea of a "carbon coin" with the public.
After Delton and Stan’s presentation at the conference, there will be a GCR break-out session with several members of the GCR team (see below) who will drill deeper into the policy. They will explore differences between the real-life proposal for "carbon currency" versus the fictional "carbon coin" in the novel. The GCR team will try to organise other presentations — to drill even deeper into the ideas behind a Global Carbon Reward — and so please watch our VERGE 2022 website for details.

Introducing: Desirée Pettersson is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management and Policy at the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics, Lund, Sweden. Desirée plans to pursue a career in climate change.

The GCR project is experiencing profound forward movement: a burst of growth from “ideation” into a truly international movement with a larger team and new advocates.
More support is welcome and necessary! The GCR seeks to work with a wide variety of stakeholders: government policy experts, scientists, economists, funding organisations and private corporations and individuals.
Changing the way the world economy works is going to be a heavy lift, but the consequences of inaction are catastrophic, and “many hands make light work.”
