Issue #58 - Mail Mondays

Welcome to Issue #58 of Mail Mondays!

Last week we started a mini-series looking at free tools from SparkLoop to help improve your email marketing. First up was Reactions.

This week, it's time to look at Proof.

Getting Email Feedback

But First...

A couple of unexpected things happened after last week's email.

1) I forgot to mention a limitation of the social sharing option in Reactions. It's best to add a URL and no optional text (unless you share only to Twitter, as everything works perfectly).

The optional text doesn't load at all on Facebook or LinkedIn, and in an email, a "+" symbol is added between every space (weird)

2) I didn't hide my email feedback from non-subscribers. Most of my email feedback came from these non-subscribers (social). Only two subscribers in my last email clicked a feedback Emoji.

(I did the same in my most recent WP Wednesdays newsletter)

I'm unsure if I will keep the feedback section available to non-subscribers, but I will discuss that next week.

Proof by SparkLoop

Proof is a free tool from SparkLoop to help increase newsletter signups via social proof.

"Show potential subscribers they can trust you with independently verified metrics about your newsletter."

Why I Love It

I love Proof because it's:
  • Quick and easy to set up
  • A no-code solution
  • It's free (I said that already)
  • Easily Customisable
  • Easy to install (it also works with Google Tag Manager)
Installing the widget on your website is easy, and SparkLoop provides specific guides for both WordPress and Webflow.

(SparkLoop offers some documentation.)

Proof data refreshes with your connected ESP about once daily; there is no way to change this currently.

The widget can be customised, and you get a handy preview of what the widget looks like on your website, depending on the merge tags you use.

When using an inline widget, hovering over the dotted line shows the SparkLoop verification whereas a non-inline widget shows a badge.

What Could Be Better

I would love to be able to create multiple widgets for my website, but you (seemingly) can only make one.

However, there are a couple of things that I would improve:

  1. Once you integrate an ESP, I can't find a way to disconnect and switch to another.

It looks like you need to set up a new Proof account (this is perhaps expected behaviour, but it's frustrating.)

  2. Sometimes, it's hard to get back to the Dashboard area.

Do You Use Proof?

Do you already use Proof, either as a free tool or part of SparkLoop?

Do you plan to use it in the future?

I would love to hear from you. Just reply to this email.

And don't forget to leave some feedback below.
