To celebrate the launch of our Preconception Guide, we hosted a webinar with our in-house Clinical Embryologist and Fertility Coach, Sandy Christiansen. Sandy spoke about the importance of preconception health and what you can do to optimise your health before trying to get pregnant. She also took questions from the audience and we wanted to share some of these with you.
How do I know whether I can get access to NHS fertility treatments? Answer: Each area in the UK has its own provisions for treatment on the NHS. To find out if you're eligible, you should speak to your GP who knows what's available where you live.
For preconception health what pieces of advice should be prioritised? Answer: Our guide has checklists to follow for what to do and specifically when. One of the best things you can do for your fertility is to stop smoking, vaping or using nicotine-containing products and start taking essential supplements, such as folic acid.
I have to wait for a GP appointment, is the guide a good place to start in the meantime? Answer: Yes. The guide can help you with any lifestyle changes you may want to consider making which can help optimise your health, even before you visit your GP! It can also help you with how to prepare for your upcoming appointment.
