8. NEW BUSINESS – DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE MOTION REGARDING 2023 ELECTIONS FUNDING MOTION BUDGET NOT TO EXCEED $25,000. (SEE SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS)

FUNDING MOTION COMMITTEE: Elections & Bylaws (E&B) TITLE: 2023 Elections Funding Motion
PURPOSE: Every election year the NCs do outreach to Stakeholders of Mar Vista to inform them of the upcoming election opportunities. This entails a hand delivered newsletter, banners, lawn signs, postcard mailed to every address in MV and a candidate forum. This will be especially important this year because our election will be held in March rather than June.

BACKGROUND: For the 2021 election we spent:
Newsletter $6000 (4 page) (8page was about $8000)
Banners $770 (4- requesting candidates, reminder to vote)
Mailing $9100 (postcard via USPS to every address in the MVCC footprint)
Geo fencing $260 (needed to obtain addresses only in MVCC footprint)
Lawn signs $600 (reminder of election day/polling place)
SUBTOTAL $16,730 Candidate forum was via zoom, if in person we would need light refreshments and a room rental approx. $500-750
GRAND TOTAL $17480 (includes $750 for in-person candidate forum
GRAND TOTAL $19480 (includes an extra $2000 if an 8-page newsletter is desired)
These are 2021 prices so might need more depending on cost. We had an increase in turn out from the 2019 (in person only) to the 2021(vote by mail only) election. Many factors played a part including MVCC’s outreach efforts, increase number of candidates, local issues of high interest to the community. This election will be both in person and vote by mail.

THE MOTION: THE E&B Committee recommends the MVCC BOD approve an elections budget not to exceed $25,000 to include design/printing and delivery of a 4-8 page newsletter, 4 banners, design/printing/mailing and geofencing of a postcard, 50 lawn signs, possible in person candidate forum-room rental/refreshments/meeting materials if needed.

Venice Blvd is in for some changes. You are invited to workshops to see what is in store.
LAnow is an on demand shared-ride service, designed by you. Hail a ride through the LAnow smartphone app. Once reserved, meet the shuttle at the scheduled LAnow pick-up/drop-off point. Within the service area, pick-up/drop-off points are never more than a few blocks (1/4 mile) away. You can also meet us at the LAnow Rideshare Hub at the Palms Expo Station.
All riders, including former riders, must download the new app. Former riders should delete the old app; and those who have balances on the old app may transfer those balances to the new app by calling 818-493-6211 Monday - Friday between 6:00 AM and 2:30 PM.
