Cast Your Vote to Strike!
We are nearing the end of our vote to authorize the strike. Your colleagues are reaching out to you one last time to cast your vote: You can do so here: https://bit.ly/austrikevote.
Hundreds of your colleagues have already voted to authorize the strike. We will advocate for our economic well-being in a united voice and we need your support. And yet, AU has refused to budge on their most recent economic proposal (of 2% or less a year). With each additional vote, we will pose a larger and larger strike threat, which will push AU towards our own proposal - . we have an opportunity to pose a credible strike —a guaranteed 9% raise over the next two years, with more available for merit pools and seniority raises..
It comes down to this: will you accept AU’s meager offer of 2% or will you stand together with your colleagues and demand more by authorizing a strike during Main Campus move-in week & WCL’s first week of classes (August 22nd - 26th)?
The experience of unionized staff at WAMU tells us that these are the only two options. AU offered them the same package they’re offering us, and because WAMU employees couldn’t muster the support for a strike they were forced to accept a 2% raise. We’re poised to demand more. We either accept AU’s unjustly low raise or we authorize a strike. There is no third option.

The strike vote ends on Tuesday, and we need everyone on board by then to project unity when we announce the results. Pledge your support today by voting online to authorize the strike.
Bargaining is TOMORROW!
Our next bargaining session is tomorrow, August 10th, beginning at 11 a.m. We will once again be fighting for living wages and equity in pay structures -- join us there if you think you and your coworkers deserve living wages now!
Here is the link to join: https://fmcs.zoomgov.com/j/1617427851?pwd=RHF1QngxeWdkMWhhYWtOQkU3RnNOQT09
Join the Zoom room whenever you can and stay as long as you can. We had 150 staff together at the last session, and hoping to bring even more tomorrow! It's crucial to show the administration our power by having as many unit members attend bargaining as possible. Know someone you think should attend? Forward this email to them.
We will be in bargaining with a mediator. If this is your first time attending, here are some things to know:
1. Please refrain from using the Zoom chat function. We use a WhatsApp chat to communicate with each other -- text Chadwick at 240-506-6055 with your name to be added to the WhatsApp.
2. We will caucus in breakout rooms in the mediator's Zoom.
See you tomorrow!
