FINAL MAKE ART PROJECTS OF AUGUST
Friends,

We have exciting Make Art Projects planned for the next 3 Wednesdays! 

This week, on August 17, Sarah Clark will be facilitating 'Let's Make Islands Together'. This activity is free, drop-in, and open to all ages. 

Then, on August 24 + 31, Ella Downing will be facilitating a free, 2-part workshop called 'Ceramics at Home: Beginner's Guide to Hand-Building Pottery'. Registration is required, as space is limited.

LET'S BUILD ISLANDS TOGETHER
3 - 6pm, Wednesday, August 17
Join us at CVAG Plaza for this free, drop-in activity. All ages are welcome!

Discover ways of materializing information through guided explorations of visual storytelling in a Make Art Project facilitated by mixed media artist Sarah Clark. You are invited to join as either a participant or an observer. 

This community engagement project will inform a larger body of work, which Sarah will be presenting at CVAG this fall. Click here for more details.

 
CERAMIC'S AT HOME: BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO HAND-BUILDING POTTERY
Part A: 2 - 4:30pm, Wednesday, August 24
Part B: 2 - 4:30pm, Wednesday, August 31
Join Ella Downing from Lentil Kitchen Ceramics for a free, 2-part Make Art Project! If you are curious about what pottery is all about, or just interested in making something beautiful, then this class is for you!

Participants will work with air dry clay and learn the pinch pot technique to make their own bowl or decorative piece. Click here for more details.

Most weeks, our Wednesday Make Art Projects at CVAG Plaza are by drop-in. Registration is required for August 24 + 31, as space is limited and participants must attend both sessions. Email gallery5@comoxvalleyartgallery.com to register. 
NEW SCREEN PRINT INSTALLATION
Installation: August 13 - September 10
Squeegeerama is an annual screen printing event organized by Wachiay Studio. Each year the guest artists, participants, and staff have produced some amazing artworks. A selection of the prints completed by the guest artists, as well as the attendees, is being presented at CVAG from August 13 to September 10. Click here to learn more. 

The Squeegeerama installation is located in CVAG’s lower level Project Room Studio. Visitors can access the lower level via the elevator in CVAG’s foyer, where artwork by students from NIC Fine Arts + Digital Design and NIC Early Childhood Care + Education programs can currently be seen in our Community Gallery.

Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted. CVAG's summer hours are 10am to 6pm, Wednesdays to Saturdays.
MARLENE CREATES: WORKS FROM BLAST HOLE POND ROAD, NEWFOUNDLAND 2002-2021
Exhibition: June 15 - September 10
There are only a few weeks left to see the current exhibition at CVAG, Marlene Creates: Works from Blast Hole Pond Road, Newfoundland 2002–2021 / Œuvres réalisées au chemin Blast Hole Pond, Terre-Neuve 2002–2021.

Marlene is an environmental artist and poet who works with photography, video, scientific and vernacular knowledge, and collaborative site-specific performance in the six-acre patch of old-growth boreal forest where she lives -- at the edge of the 920-acre Blast Hole Pond Conservation Area. 

The exhibition concludes on September 10.
Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted. CVAG's summer hours are 10am to 6pm, Wednesdays to Saturdays.
