Hello, Friends of WFVJ,

Please help support the work of Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice and the Wisconsin Interfaith Voter Engagement Campaign. We organize clergy and congregations to engage in voter education, voter registration, and Get Out the Vote activities. Your support is invaluable to making this work possible!

This fall, we are organizing congregations around the state to canvass low voter turnout neighborhoods in advance of the November election.

Canvassing is an effective way to raise awareness of upcoming elections, provide accurate information and assistance with voter registration, finding your polling place, learning what is on the ballot, and ensuring people know what ID they need to be able to vote.

We piloted a canvassing project in Madison for the August 9 primary.  Both faith leaders and lay members came together in pairs to canvass from door to door and build awareness of the August 9th primary. Canvassers were equipped to assist voters in how to register, find their polling place, make a plan to vote and learn who is on their ballot.

Thirty people went out in pairs to canvass in low voter turnout neighborhoods. In an hour and a half, they knocked on 350 doors and spoke to 180 people. Materials on how to register and vote were left at every door. In addition to reaching these voters, relationships were formed across congregations. In this video, participants talk about how meaningful this event was to them.

We are looking to build on the success of this program across the state for the November election.  We will include youth through a partnership with 100 Black Men and will build upon current partnerships with Souls to the Polls, WISDOM, and the NAACP, as well as the League of Women Voters.

To make this happen, we need local organizers around the state, materials to leave with voters with the information they need, and food and materials for canvassing events, as well as t-shirts and buttons to raise the visibility of our "Pray with Your Feet, Pray with Your Vote" campaign.

This election season voters are facing more challenges to voting than ever.  From attempts to undermine trust in the electoral process, to legislative attempts to suppress the vote, to extremists spreading misinformation and disinformation, we have to work harder than ever to ensure that every voter has access to the ballot and every vote is counted.

Your support is vital to help make this work happen.  Please give as generously as you are able!
