Farm News

We will be open Friday, 3- 6pm.  The online store is up and running as well.  You can pre-order online by Thursday night  and we will have a packed box with your order ready for pickup on Friday afternoon.

For sales at the table, we prefer credit card but will have the cash register available for cash or checks.  We are not requiring masks but please ask that customers be considerate, allow 6 feet of space between, and continue to not touch produce on the tables.  Please park on the grass on either side of the driveway.  If you need assistance or require handicap parking, please drive to the top of hill and park next to the barn.

Check out this new gadget!  It's a potato digger that mounts to the back of our smaller tractor.  We're hoping to put it together tomorrow and give it a go.  We spend far too much labor on hand-digging potatoes with our old system.  This digger (made in Poland!) lifts the potatoes above the soil level and shakes out the loose soil, leaving the potatoes on top for the picking.  We do still need to send a crew to gather them up but the hope if for a much quicker step to bring the spuds in to harvest.  I'm not sure if we'll have any on the table this week but it will make a nice surprise if we do.  This year's line-up includes a new yellow, and the same red and Huckleberry Gold we had last season.

Speaking of gadget's...here's our root washer getting all those carrots clean!  For those of you that have washed carrots, beets, and potatoes by hand, I think you'll appreciate the upgrade!  There's a rotating stainless steel barrel in the center that spins as the roots are blasted with water recirculating from the large water tank below.  We can do 30 pounds in about 3 minutes.  I'm still amazed how fast the crew is able to run this machine and get the crop ready for bagging.  The slow step (just like potatoes) is the digging.  We're hoping for a carrot harvester next year to speed up the process.  Once we get them clean, it's on to the packing line to be sorted and put into 20# bags for sale.

See you at the farm...
