The Beautiful Lady with the Pink Hair
For most of the duration of Pastor Alexis’s time with us, Carol Droege was our amazing office manager. You may recall her kind words for everyone, and her smile, which could light up your heart. She did thoughtful things like leaving encouraging sticky notes on the weekly stack of bulletins. She is enamored with the color pink, which suits her cheerful personality. She was also exceptional at the details of her work in our church. She left our employ one and one-half years ago to help her husband, Michael in the church he pastors, but jumped in last summer as a consultant to help us transition in the office before we found Alberto. She embodies her faith.
Sadly, Carol is fighting a brave and recuring battle with cancer and is now in palliative care. If you would like to connect with her and encourage her on her journey, you can register with CaringBridge, https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/caroldroege. You can also donate to help the cause. She and Michael will appreciate your support. Please remember Carol and Michael in prayer.

Folks,
Our next book discussion will be held by Zoom on Saturday, September 10th, at 7:00PM.
The book will be Abi Daré's novel The Girl With The Louding Voice.
"The unforgettable, inspiring story of a teenage girl growing up in a rural Nigerian village who longs to get an education so that she can find her “louding voice” and speak up for herself, The Girl with the Louding Voice is a simultaneously heartbreaking and triumphant tale about the power of fighting for your dreams. Despite the seemingly insurmountable obstacles in her path, Adunni never loses sight of her goal of escaping the life of poverty she was born into so that she can build the future she chooses for herself – and help other girls like her do the same. Her spirited determination to find joy and hope in even the most difficult circumstances imaginable will “break your heart and then put it back together again” (Jenna Bush Hager on The Today Show) even as Adunni shows us how one courageous young girl can inspire us all to reach for our dreams…and maybe even change the world."
Hope you will be able to join us.
Joe and Carol Sundeen
Saturday, September 10, at 7pm on zoom.

Prayers of the People
"This is my prayer."
For healing, strength, and faithfulness for Carol and Michael.
For Judy W's mom, Nora, in hospice. And for Judy and Chris as they love and support her.
Gratitude for the love and joy our pets bring our families.
For healing and comfort for Jason's upcoming surgery and for continued good health leading up to it.
For the elimination of nuclear weapons as we solemnly mark the anniversary of the atrocities of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagaski.
With gratitude for Debbie's continued recovery. For continued strength and patience with the slowness of the healing process.
With gratitude for the ways the church loves one another through the joys and sorrows and fears of life.
For healing and comfort for the unspoken burdens we bear, and for the caregivers among us who tire but whose work does not end.
For our pastor and church leadership.
For our pastoral search committee, our conference ministers, and our next pastor (whoever and wherever they are).
"This is our prayer."
