Join LA2050 in celebrating LA's 241st birthday this September 4th!

In honor of this milestone, we're releasing our annual "Happy Birthday, LA!" e-book, featuring:
  • Full-page infographics illustrating how LA is faring according to 20 metrics, from the percentage of Angelenos that walk or bike to work to the number of jobs per capita and voter participation rates.
  • Birthday wishes for LA from 10 local leaders, doers, and social innovators, including Nika Soon-Shiong (Founder and Executive Director, Fund for Guaranteed Income) and Jamiah E. Hargins (Founder and Executive Director of Crop Swap LA).
  • A directory of more than 100 social impact organizations that are working to make LA's future brighter.
We can't wait to see what the next year holds for LA!

DEIDRE'S FAVE FIVE
Deidre Lind, Mayor's Fund for LA
DEIDRE LIND | President and CEO, Mayor's Fund for Los Angeles

My favorite Los Angeles places and spaces...
PLAY:  Did you know our city has more than 16,000 acres of parkland, 92 miles of hiking trails, and 422 playgrounds? With programs like summer camps and Summer Night Lights offering free food/fun in 43 parks this summer, our LA parks are our treasures – my favorite places to play!

CREATE:  Nothing beats a summer night at the Hollywood Bowl. But I can't leave out mention of the iconic El Pueblo de Los Ángeles – the birthplace of Los Angeles and a feast for the eyes, ears, and your tastebuds!

CONNECT:  California Volunteers allows you to search opportunities by community, issue, etc., and feel a part of something bigger across our great state. And if LA is your focus, check out VolunteerLA.

LEARN:  My morning runs start with NPR's Up First. I feel like A Martínez, Rachel Martin, and Steve Inskeep are all my best friends.

LIVE:  Los Angeles has the most diverse landscape of nonprofits anywhere! It's why I really love the Center for Nonprofit Management offering support to any/all that need it.

We're pleased to feature our 50th Fave Five post! Thank you, Deidre, for sharing your favorite places and spaces.
