We hope you enjoyed the long weekend and are settling into the fall semester. In light of Labor Day, it's fitting this issue highlights a campus employment
fair as well as events and resources to help students seek skills and
experience to actively shape their career journey.

The MU Career Center is hosting a Campus Part-Time Job Fair on Tuesday, September 13 from Noon-3:00 pm on Lowry Mall. We want to help our Tigers get connected to campus employers looking for quality employees, and we hope you will help us in encouraging students to participate.

Students should bring their Student ID and copies of their class schedule and résumé (if they have one). Casual dress is appropriate for this open-air event.  This experience is also a wonderful opportunity for students to try out their introductions with a supportive employer in preparation of upcoming career fairs!
We often hear from students that it's not the right time to think about their major, career goals and long-term plans. But their college journey has started and we want them to be intentional about their experience!
We encourage students to visit us, but know that many are more comfortable researching information online. So students should visit Mizzou Career Tools, our career resource site searchable by career topic. It also features unique content for student identities, class years and career interests. By interacting with our resources and staff, students can begin to actively shape their career journey, deepen their knowledge and build their confidence.
Career Counseling
If you know students who are struggling or need help with exploring majors/careers, graduate education, or the job search, please let them know about the free career counseling offered at the MU Career Center. This service goes beyond our regular drop-ins with Career Specialists. Our Career Counselors are counseling psychology graduate students who provide ongoing one-on-one career counseling support. There are three Career Counselors now taking appointments, ready to assist students with a variety of career, academic, and personal-related concerns.

Students can sign up through MU Connect for a 30-minute initial session with one of our career counselors. Alumni who have graduated within the past year and who reside within the state of Missouri are also eligible for career counseling. Email us if you have questions or need assistance with helping a student or alum make an appointment.

Note: Career Counselors are only eligible to provide counseling services to students and recent alumni in Missouri. If a Mizzou student resides outside the state of Missouri, they are welcome to visit with a Career Specialist.

Family Weekend Resource Fair
Friday, September 16, 2022
MU Student Center (main level)
3:30-5:00 pm

The Career Center will participate in this event where family members and students can learn about campus programs and services that support them in their academic and professional journey.  Click here for a full list of Family Weekend events.

There is no better way to find an internship or job than speaking directly with a company recruiter. Nearly 450 companies will be coming to the Mizzou campus looking to hire Tigers at one of the multiple fall career fairs scheduled in September and early October.

First and second year students are encouraged to attend to get familiar with a career fair setting and to learn about the kinds of companies that come to campus to recruit Mizzou students. Some employers also have part-time employment options available.

Upperclass students should attend to apply for internships and full-time career opportunities. Making a positive impression and asking questions is a great way to get insider information and added insight about the hiring process.

To be prepared, students should read the Guide to Career Fairs and login to Handshake to see who is attending and what positions are available. Our social media will also focus on tips and tricks to master employer interactions!
