The Gordie Howe Bridge will connect what will be the largest ports of entry on the US-Canadian Border.  The project is considered a high-performance sustainable building and infrastructure project, with emphasis placed on green building initiatives such as reducing energy consumption, evaluating life cycle costs, conserving non-renewable resources, and protecting the natural world.  Further, an Environmental Management Plan, which will be certifiable under ISO 14001, is under development.  Come tour the site and learn about the environmental commitments and management plans in place for construction of the Bridge; the tour starts promptly at 4:00 pm.

Afterwards enjoy complimentary appetizers and drinks while social networking at the Supergeil Restaurant in Detroit.  EM AWMA Member and Past Chair, Mr. Grant Hilbers, will be joining us as a Special Guest.  Grant was the initial Environmental Director for the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority and is currently the Vice President of Engineering responsible for the Bridge engineering and construction oversight program.

Space is limited to 35 registrants, and pre-registration is required. The cost of the tour and social event is $25 (AWMA members) and $35 (non-members).  Location for the Bridge Tour is 1001 Springwells Ct and Supergeil is located at 2442 Michigan Ave, both in Detroit.

Tour questions can be directed to secretary@emawma.org .
