Dear <<First Name>>,

Get a crash course on the midterms this Saturday!

What worries you the most about the direction of our country?
Climate Change? Economy? Education? Maintaining Democracy?

Join us this Saturday, September 10 from 10:00 am until noon at the Oak Bend Public Library (click here for directions) for a fun and powerful morning diving into what's happening in our city, state, and country as we approach the 2022 Midterms. Civitas alum Reece Ellis will chat about what he is seeing and hearing as a legislative assistant in Jefferson City. He'll also share important races that will determine the majority in the U.S. House and Senate until the 2024 Presidential election. There will be fun trivia, entertaining commercials, dynamic discussions, poll predictions, good food, and more!  Click here to sign up now.
As the Kick-Off event of the school year, attending will earn you 2 Game Changer points. Bring a friend (have them sign up, too!) and earn a 3rd Game Changer point!
Another PERK to joining us--Civitas is happy to sign for service hours when you attend our events. We believe that being an informed, active citizen is a service to the community. You may need to check with your school's requirements for service hours first.

Delegates get ready! High School Model UN Country Draft is October 8
The first important date to plan for is the Country Draft on Saturday, October 8 from 10:00 am until noon. All High School Model UN events will be in person and held at Browning Auditorium at Webster University. Any student can attend the Country Draft, although just one representative from a school is required to attend.

Moji Sidiqi, International Institute We have an exciting speaker lined up for the draft day, Moji Sidiqi, who manages the Afghan Support Program for the St. Louis International Institute. She will talk about what our greater community is providing for the Afghan refugees who have arrived to St. Louis in the past year. Moji will share her personal story as well. We will also play a few rounds of trivia (with prizes) before drafting for countries. Civitas will need to know which one of the three sessions available (two on November 19 and one on December 3) that you plan or your group plans on attending before the draft day.

Sign up for the Country Draft by clicking here.
Become a Civitas Game Changer this Year

Earn at least 7 points by spring and become a Civitas Game Changer and get invited to special opportunities. The greatest benefit is an invitation to apply for the Civitas Summer Internship program. Being a Civitas intern is a fun opportunity to be with other civic-minded students your age from all over the St. Louis area. Summer interns are paid $16 an hour for two weeks of commitment. There are other advantages to being a Game Changer, too, such as invitations to special events and activities. There are several ways to earn Game Changer points:
  • Sign up and show up for any Civitas event (never any homework, tests, or fees!).
  • Bring a friend who doesn't know about Civitas to an event.
  • Write for the Civitas blog.
  • Introduce a teacher from your school to Civitas.
  • Lead a Model UN group in your school.
  • Write and submit a resolution for High School Model UN.
  • And more...
