We are so excited that Down in the Reeds Festival is right around the corner! This year's festival features two stages of live music activities and games for all ages, live art, art and craft vendors and delicious local food trucks and breweries. Some highlighted acts for this year's festival include Red Baraat, The Medicine Singers, Project Locrea, Bele Bele Rhythm Collective, Hands on Drums workshops, Washington Jazz Arts Institute Youth Ensemble and sooo many more. Full disclosure: we’re festival community partners.

🪣📝 Fall bucket list.

As you wrap up your bucket list of summer things to do, it’s not too early to start thinking about your fall bucket list of DC activities. For inspiration, here’s what is on our list (so far!).

👀 Peek Inside Mi Vida’s New Logan Circle Location

You can’t miss Mi Vida’s new second location on 14th Street in Logan Circle. The brightly colored spinoff of the Mexican restaurant at the Wharf is easy to spot. It's a HUGE change from the brownstone facade of the former Matchbox location.

The skinny: The newest 287-seat Mi Vida takes note of its on-the-go nightlife neighborhood with smaller bites and shareable orders that don’t necessitate silverware or a ton of time. Wharf regulars will feel right at home while enjoying a contemporary Mexican menu filled with new and old favorites.

GPS: 📍1901 14th St NW

Mi Vida isn’t done expanding. A third Mi Vida is scheduled to open in Penn Quarter this winter, in the cavernous Capital One Arena-adjacent space that formerly housed DC’s long-running Rosa Mexicano (575 7th Street NW).

Discover DC’s Hidden Gems.

Nestled between 12th and 13th Streets NW, and behind the U Street metro, is a secret garden, outdoor classroom, and time machine. Temperance Alley has hosted various events, such as yoga, book circles and ecology classes taught by stewards of the garden and passionate supporters, including Ms. Virginia Ali, co-founder of historic Ben’s Chili Bowl. But the garden’s lifespan, much like nature itself, is ephemeral. A proposed development will uproot the plot in three years’ time.
