Web Scraping

Web Scraping is a powerful tool for collecting real-time, locally specific data. Has your organization used web scraping to collect data? Let us know! We would like to put together a session on the power of web scraping for local-level data collection and would love to hear what you are doing locally!

New Data Products

The Community Data Program regularly receives new data products. Below is a snapshot of a few products that have been recently added to the catalogue. See what else is available by visiting the data catalogue yourself!

New Tableau Dashboards

Following each census release, the CDP Team developed a Tableau dashboard. Each dashboard contains 2021 census data for all of Canada and enables a user to access new census data quickly.

Upcoming Webinars

What can I do with the Longitudinal Immigration Database [IMDB]?

The Longitudinal Immigration Database [IMDB] is a comprehensive source of data that plays a key role in the understanding of the economic behaviours of immigrants. It is the only annual Canadian dataset that allows users to study the characteristics of immigrants to Canada at the time of admission and their economic outcomes and regional (inter-provincial) mobility over a time span of more than 40 years. This Webinar aims to help inform users of what is the IMDB, its analytical capacity, and its publicly available data products. Mike Ditor, Senior Analyst at the Community Data Program (CDP), will also provide a brief overview of the custom IMBD products available exclusively through the CDP. This webinar is suitable for all levels.

Project Profile:
Measuring the "Gig Economy"

York Region is undertaking a research project to understand how the ‘gig economy’ impacts residents and opportunities to offer support through programs and services.

York Region is looking to chat with other practitioners who have looked at the impacts of the "gig economy" in their local area. Get in touch with us at information@communitydata.ca  and we will be happy to connect you to the research team.

Have a project you would like to share with the Community Data Program Network? Let us know!

Ask a Community Data Expert

We invite CDP users to contact us with their data questions. These can go beyond basic questions on finding and opening data products. We understand that many users do not have the capacity to work with our catalogue or make use of Beyond 2020 and IVT files. Where we can we will do our best to provide you with a data table in Excel format for the geographies and indicators you need.
