Spring Newsletter

Kia ora koutou,

it seems it has been ages since my last newsletter and yes its been 6 month... time flies.
It has been a time of gratitude. I am grateful for learning new skills, seeing new places, meeting new people, and grateful for having had people in my life that have now gone to the other side. All of those mentioned above influencing my work and help pushing it towards.

Enjoy my newsletter!

Pātaka and Friends Award 2022

This bi-annual event is held by Pātaka and Friends in Porirua.
My work is called 'Outsider', made of harakeke and string and is questioning
the role of outsiders (or black sheep) in whānau context.
The exhibition is open right now until the 30th of October.

Ākina - a new contemporary art gallery in Hastings/Heretaunga

This new gallery has just opened about 6 weeks ago in the new Municipal Building right in the center of Heretaunga. It runs exhibitions and other events with a focus on kaupapa Māori. And I am thrilled to have some of my work featured in their retail space. Make sure you put this gallery on your to do list when visiting Hawkes Bay. Its a local business by tangata whenua supporting local (and national) artists.

Kāpiti Arts Trail

The dates for the 2022 Kāpiti Arts Trail are 5/6 and 12/13 of November. While this is a great opportunity to visit my studio, see my (clean) workspace, buy art or just have a chat, you can, if you are in the area outside those times, make an appointment and come for a visit to a work in progress studio.

Contact me via my website or birgitmoffatt@gmail.com for arrangements.
What's new in my online shop?

Over winter time I have constantly added work to my online shop. The latest 'Hokianga Mood Series' I have developed after a short wanaga at the shores of the Hokianga Habour, watercolour and earth pigments to depict the ever changing movements of the tidal waters in the habour, more info here.
