Dear partners and innovators,

If you’ve ever co-designed with the Lab, you will probably recognize the term “hot start.”

These are creative ice breakers to help fire up the energy level in meetings ... and to set the tone for the innovation ahead.

The video above showcases a playful example from the Lab's Home Week retreat. In a matter of minutes, you can host an Extreme Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament, which will get the entire room laughing and cheering. The instructions are below.

SO. 👏 MUCH. 👏 FUN. 👏

Speaking of Home Week ...
While the Lab is based in Washington, D.C.,  our growing team works remotely across the country. In early August, the Lab convened in person in D.C. to discuss our strengths  + strategy. We also made time for bocce!

The Lab’s most popular Instagram post so far? A close-up video of that cake, which celebrated Lab Founder + Board Chair Kathleen deLaski. She handed the management reins officially to President + CEO Bill Hughes during Home Week. (Btw, the "stickies" on that gluten-free cake are edible!)
