SMA is requesting for supports on behalf of Islamic Relief of Canada.
Over the past few days, Pakistan has been currently experiencing extremely heavy rainfall, resulting in catastrophic flash flooding across the country.
In the hardest hit areas of Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, over 33,000 million people have been displaced with over 220,000 homes destroyed. Twelve million acres of crops have been submerged underwater, ruining the harvest season and causing a massive shortage of staples such as rice and flour, vegetables, and fruits in the markets. People are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, and across all regions.
Hundreds of children among the 1000 people have lost their lives due to the catastrophic floods.
Islamic Relief is on the ground, responding to the emergency. Our emergency teams are on the ground right now, already working in local communities and the local government to establish how best to support affected families, who urgently need food, shelter, bedding, and hygiene items.
Islamic Relief is also focused on helping communities recover from the disaster as quickly as possible to ensure that vulnerable people do not continue to suffer the terrifying impact of the flash floods.
- This Friday, Islamic Relief Canada would like to set up a collection/booth at our Masjid as part of our efforts to support the flash floods response in Pakistan
- We would appreciate any generous donation from our Masjid to go directly towards our Pakistan Floods Appeal (our intervention is Zakat eligible)
- Lastly and most importantly, on the day of Jummah please make duaa for our teams on the ground and all those impacted by the crisis, asking Allah to make it easy for our brothers and sisters in Pakistan.
