Finish Strong!

“Finish strong” is often the cry from the Soccer bench or coaches’ technical area! We are nearing the end of Season 2022 the first FULL season for three years.

We would encourage you to “finish strong”, whether it be as a player, coach, team manager or supporter! Finish the season with the same enthusiasm and desire that you started it!

As a player when I used to play I kept my eyes on the coach for inspiration at times when we were down and losing games! or at other times I looked at the coach nervously to see if we put my number up and drag me off the pitch early!

In the same way the Bible implores us to keep our eyes on our eternal coach Jesus! Hebrews 12 v 1 says “let us run the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus the pioneer and perfector of our faith”.
Our faith in Jesus will help us “Finish strong” in life in much the same way a great coach can inspire players with a few chosen words or an inspirational speech.

So as we approach the final few weeks of the season and hopefully a finals game to come, I would encourage you to look at your eternal coach Jesus and finish the season trusting him.
God promises in Isaiah 40 v 29-31 that “He will renew our strength … They shall run and not get tired!”. So if you are feeling weary from the season just closing, fix your eyes on the eternal coach to get you through the last few games or functions!

“Finish strong” with Jesus beside you or carrying you through the finish line to the summer break!
From Andrew Farmer – who is always around the Club on Saturday mornings at Knox Park.

God  Bless

The Off-Season!

As we start to wind up season 2022, it’s an appropriate time to talk about what happens next? The answer is – keep being active and stay fit!

All too often we see athletes present to our rooms at the start of the next season with injuries from training – all because they went back to training too hard after not doing any fitness work during the off-season! Now is a great time to build some fitness during the warmer months...and a great chance to change your routine! Overuse injuries develop with repetition, so it’s an opportunity to get into the gym and build a bit of strength, get involved in some Pilates for gaining a little core stability, or maybe getting into a running program to boost your cardiovascular fitness!

And importantly, don’t forget about those niggling injuries you’ve been carrying all year. Without the repetition of training and playing you have an excellent opportunity to combine some rest with some appropriate rehabilitation. Of course we’re here throughout the year and we’d love to help you now to make sure you’re fit and firing for next year!

Thanks for following along with the Physio Corner blog this year – I hope you’ve been able to find it helpful and learn a thing or two about optimising your health and keeping you out on the track playing the sport you love!

Catch you all soon!

Be well! Stay Safe. Stay Healthy! Go KCSC
