Astro News

A recently rediscovered pair of legs, attached to a somewhat wonky guidance system, has managed to deliver my trusty camera to the TigerTurf once more. Imagine my delight upon arrival when I was finally able to resolve the mystery of "how on earth do lights get up a 15m pole". The answer was not, as was previously rumoured by a now debunked anonymous source, the skilled application of a tractor. In fact, all it takes is a bloke with a drill. Please note that this is not necessarily limited to blokes, but on this occasion a bloke was observed.

Once lowered, the lighting column takes on a very amusing wobble and bendy appearance. I was informed that this is due to the four 24kg lighting units on the end. We look forward to the random application of windy gusts with keen anticipation. Headload and windage will be the watchwords.

The electricity is about to be introduced to the state of the art LED floodlights but at the time of writing the electrons were not quite getting to the top of the poles. Hopefully all will be operational by the end of today.

Hot on the heels of the electricity will be some paint to mark out half pitch hockey for the youth section and two 7 a side football pitches. The footballers will arrive before their paint on 6 September as the first external hire kicks off with GK Icons, which I am told is a youth goalkeeper coaching organisation.

Worthing Masters Success

Ladies Vets (plus one baby vet and wedding hen) took part in the fantastic Worthing Masters Tournament at the end of August.
Unfortunately, our Mens Vets could not field a full team but Paul and Roderick joined the “Handbags” team, determined to join in on the fun.
The standards were significantly higher than expected but resulted in BHHHC performing accordingly.  The ladies team ended up in the middle tier with the highlight, playing the final game of the tournament against “Girls of Fire”, with nearly half of their team playing in Ireland’s National Vets League.  It was a feisty but enjoyable game with BHHHC losing 1-3.  Nothing more to report as what happens on tour, stays on tour.
