PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Greetings to all our Glendale Art Association audience. We are beginning a new art year and new adventures await us. I am passing the president position to Betsy Avila who has been our newsletter editor, but she will be out of town for some time . I will take the position of vice president and Helena Bowman and I will help her learn all the details of the job. We have started some planning but would love to have more input/ideas from our members, so please tell us or send us your ideas and information.
Our June meeting was an enjoyable demonstration by Donna Barns with tips about watercolors. Everyone enjoyed the information she gave us.
We did not have enough entries for the Mini-show in June. Bring your new art work for our September Mini-show.
For our September 8th meeting we will be welcoming the spectacular pencil artist Katheryn Hansen.
Kathryn Hansen’s drawings are focused around her passion and devotion to animals and nature. Capturing the essence and soul of each animal she draws, along with their spirit and beauty are integral facets in each drawing she create. Kathryn hopes that her art inspires each viewer to realize their connection to all living things, and to have a positive impact on this planet so that together we can help preserve the exquisite complexity of our earth for many years to come.
Kathryn is a Signature Member of the Society of Animal Artists.
1. Helena B., Vivianne B., Shree H., and Diane C. have works in the Santa Paula Society of the Arts show, from August 30th to September 28th, at the Blanchard Community Library, 119 N. 8th St., Santa Paula, CA 93060.
2. Helena B., Vivianne B. and Diane C. will be showing work in Dulce Stein's Dulcepalloza at the LA Makery, 260 S. Los Angeles St., Los Angeles, CA , opening Sept. 10th, 6pm to 9pm.
3. Dick H. and Shree H. will be showing work at La Casita Del Arroyo Park, 177 S. Arroyo Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91105, Oct. 2nd,
4. Donna B. R. has work in the California Art Club 111th Gold Medal Show at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana. The show closes Sept. 11th.
5. George S. will be teaching painting classes in Panama, starting in Feb., for 6 weeks.
6. Vince T. will be teaching on the Queen Victoria cruise ship for 30 days, making 4 trips around the Mediterranean.
Thank you Vincent Takas for volunteering for the scholarship chair. Everyone doing their small share makes everything work more smoothly, so please volunteer! We still have several volunteer positions open:
