Come Together

Would that not be a welcome sight, this end of August circa 2022, where golfers (and all denizens of planet earth) are so terribly shrouded in division, anger and dissent.

Lawsuits. Subpoenas. Hypocisy.  Greedwhorism (yeah, it's a word - "Google it!"  Actually, I just fabricated it; comforting to know that authenticity, imagination and creativity are still alive and well in some of us, eh?) thriving around every dogleg and streetcorner.

Ah... but there's a glimmer of hope fellow wanderers of the links - and that hope resides with the magical ball & stick game in which we all partake.  You see, as the $$ signs ascend to more and more glutunous heights (Pick a Tour - any Tour!), the spirit of the game lives on, I promise (because I've recently experienced it, first hand).

Not buying in?  Think CS is sportswashing a fast one on you?  Violating your rights as a human being and reader of this missive? A no-cut (unsubscribe whenever you like, please) exhibition of sorts to sell you golf help, completely void of relevance and meaning?

Alas, not the case... Take a leap my friends and click on the colorful and spirited foursome just above. Then, swing back my way for some rays of hope shining down upon this great pasttime + ideas & insight on creating more optimal "golf ball behaviour..."

"He say, one and one and one is three"

I was priveleged enough to have been invited by a friend - let's call him "AP" - to visit his recently aquired 9-hole golf course in a land far, far away.

** FYI: I'll continue to alter/adjust the names throughout, so as to protect the innocent who shall inspire you - as they did I - to believe that the spirit of the game is in fact very much alive and well.

First off, understand that AP acquired this meager facility solely for the purpose of updating and upgrading its offerings, to enhance community wellness and togetherness.

Shall I keyboard that again, or are you able to fathom such a notion?

Come Together

Correct: although 1 + 1 + 1 does indeed equal 3 - not all humanoids are grotesquely intoxicated with advancing profits.

My task upon arrival on - let's call it "The Island (that's a hint should you be into treasure hunting...) Of Magnificent Golfers (TIOMG)?" why, to help the locals improve their golf, but of course.

And, what I quickly came to realize with these fine people who relish the mere act of playing the game, yet - like us all - seek to improve, is, as with the golf ball itself, they were entirely (and sincerely) 100% disinterested in my social status or standing, my pedigree, nor my attire.

How terribly refreshing

"He say I know you, you know me One thing I can tell you is you got to be free"

Nope, this is not the rig the Beatles were living in during the photo shoot up top, but rather a golfer setting up temporary residence in the adjacent campground (check out the pull cart/trolley in the background; do you pay attention to details when you play, or are you stuck with a mish-mash of swing thoughts spinning around your noggin'?).  You know - golfers - like me, you, your neighbors, the PGA Tour, the LIV Tour, the DP Tour, the Grateful Dead Tour, etc.

The chap driving this non-urban assualt vehicle got hair down to his knee?  The golf ball don't care - and neither did anyone on the TIOMG.
Like with all those who frequented and strolled upon the fairways (yes, those are dandelions in the foreground above) of this special venue, there were no 'outsiders.'  All were welcome to play, play together - and then but of course - gather together for an adult beverage (or 7) post round, to share their linksy battle stories.

No snitty conversations about viruses or vaccines.  No biased banter about politics.  No insecure, ego-laced chatter, care nor concern of income, click, likes, followers or 'influencers.'  The tide did all the influencing in this magical land; think it's got much clout?

Come Together

If anyone was out of place in this group, 'twas I, the outlier from another time and place (a place known as "civilization" to many, which I am finding less and less civilized, frankly..), oft overdressed for the occasion.  Way too much shoe shine ;)

Yet all tipped their own caps to me (even as I sought solace under an ancient totem), and accepted me into the golfy tribe.  New friends now knowing me, and I knowing them.  Me, the guy who got feet down below his knee..

No Twitter spats. No bitter lawsuits.  No "I'll see your gazillion, and raise you another couple gazillion..."

These folks just wanted to play the game for its inheritant challenges, gifts of social interaction, and pleasures.

Come Together

"Got to be a joker he just do what he please"

Appears now as if the best players in the world are the true jokers, doing as they please for the sheer sake of the almighty $...

Shooting Coca-Cola and being auctioned off, one at a time. Talk about joo joo eyeball.

One of the assistant superintendents (most of the greens crews  at TIOMG volunteer, BTW) pictured above is far more concerned with industrious hard work and getting the job done effectively - kinda like knowing what and how to practice so your precious time and learnings last and transfer.  It's what my Train2Trust programs are all about; click on the the epitome of efficiency four-legged beast above for a refresher.

Isn't that what the game at the highest level entails?  Low score wins, last I checked; or perhaps it's I who's got stuck in muddy water and didn't get the memo (again)?

Speaking of which: you wanna shoot lower scores? Simple: improve with a trio of clubs: driver (or whatever optimizes length and carry off the tee), a wedge and your putter.  Is that so hard to see?  Where have you been searching, anyway?  At the 'good looking' and sweet talking SM hucksters espousing Walrus Gumboots?

Yikes! I'd be happy to guide you down a performance based road (Abbey, or other) - ping me if you'd be interested in coming together for such an encounter.

"Here come old flat top"

Fantastic fungi (and so many other offerings from Mother Nature - do you take notice when you're out for your walks in the golf park?  Or has the blue-lit screen device kidnapped your attention there as well..??) everywhere upon the lands of TIOMG.

Are you so fearful of on-course water hazards that you snatch a scraggly range ball out of your bag when a forced carry is involved?  I understand - but do not condone.

What is it then that you are planning, programming and visualizing, anyway?  Remember this, you holy rollers: it's all an inside job - so 'put out to the universe' what you want; you are in charge (not the ball).

Can you learn to put your focus, atttention and intention onto the land (fairway or putting green, for example) you wish your golf ball to arrrive upon? Yes, you can.

Besides (something the bi-peds on both & all sides of the globe's out-of-bounds fences seem to have forgotten): we are all composed primarily of water anyway...

That liquid staring you in the face that you are so trying to ignore, avoid and dodge IS you. Your brethren, peeps.

Come Together

The Time Is Now

To commit to improving your golf game, once and for all.

Why so?  'Cause you, and the opportunity to take your game to the next level (whatever level that may be..) is like the fantabulous TIOMG above:

"Sunsets, like childhood, are viewed with wonder not just because they are beautiful but because they are fleeting"

- - Richard Paul Evans

Are you too exasperated with one-off lessons? Gratuitous SM & on-line ‘tips & tricks’ from self-proclaimed experts who have never seen you swing, let alone play the game?  Iffy advice from your well-intentioned (yet clueless) playing partners? Occasional or one-off lessons?

CS is here for you - a more comprehensive plan to be announced very soon - in person at Eugene Country Club and at Puerto Los Cabos in the winter months.  I also offer remote coaching plans wherever you may reside. Click below on either spectacular venue for specifics.

"Put two ships in the open sea, without wind or tide, and, at last, they will come together. Throw two planets into space, and they will fall one on the other. Place two enemies in the midst of a crowd, and they will inevitably meet; it is a fatality, a question of time; that is all"
