Pastor's Note

POWER. The entire church building was without power yesterday (Thursday) which is generally our busiest day besides Sunday.  We had to pivot and make some quick changes; our neighbors waited on chairs in the parking lot and were called in one person at a time to lessen the amount of foot traffic in the VERY DARK lower level. Several people (but mostly Alex) were putting in calls to WE Energies and sidling up to junction boxes, wondering what if anything could be done within the building.

Turns out, as I learned from talking with the three gentlemen pictured above, a cable was faulty under the ground the the west of the building near where there is work being done on the Marquette parking lot. The team will be digging, splicing, and reburying in order to restore power.

Throughout the day, I was impressed by the “can-do-it” attitudes, the patience, the willingness to hang in there shared by everyone at Redeemer today.  And I thought of two Bible verses as I moved about today:

2 Corinthians 12:9-11
But [the Lord] said to me [Paul], “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Though the ministry was hindered by a lack of electrical power today, yet it was strong in the way it was able to persevere in sharing grace and companionship among all those gathered.

And:

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13

The power of the Holy Spirit energized us today; we rejoice in the faith that binds us together even when our electrical cables fray and fail!

See you Sunday for worship at 10am; I’m guessing our Noisy Offering change jar will be filled to the brim!

Peace, Pastor Lisa
