August you’ve done it again!

Accepting money for Twelfth Step work or service work does not succeed because the exchange of the ACA gift of hope cannot be sold or purchased. ACA hope must be given and received without strings attached. Money fouls this spiritual transaction. Always.

Many ACA members are professionals with expertise in finance, office systems, or computer networking. They donate their time and expertise to ACA service because they want to give back to the fellowship that brought them sanity.

We look forward to seeing you at a meeting soon as we continue to face the path ahead with serenity, courage and wisdom.

Welcome to the August newsletter.

August is almost done. Thank goodness this Community is here. The meetings have all been going well and the numbers have remained consistent. Recovery is going strong, day by day for many I see at the meetings.

I am new to this newsletter gig, so please be patient, I will do my best. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this wonderful 12 step recovery Community. There are plenty of more Service positions available for those of you who want to give back and build self esteem (by doing esteemable things). ACA is self supporting and service is great for recovery.

✨ 1st Regional Convention.

The first Regional Convention is happening soon. A lot of work has gone into pulling this all together. Rick with be presenting the history of ACA in South Australia. Look out for that!

Get amongst it. Recover and thrive.

It’s happening Sunday September 18th @ 9:30pm (Adelaide time) via Zoom. The Meeting ID is 913 2607 8635, and the password is Steps.

Each one of us has a medley of faces that composes our individual personality: intelligence, anger, love, jealousy, helplessness, courage, and many more. We're often quick to judge these characteristics as either positive or negative, without recognizing that we need each of them in order to become fuller, more balanced human beings. Originally written in 1978 by renowned psychotherapist Virginia Satir, the timeless classic Your Many Faces has been updated and reissued--and is as relevant today as ever. In a refreshingly candid style, Satir takes us on a lively and insightful journey of self-discovery and transformation. We learn how to acknowledge, understand, and manage our many faces--and in doing so, open up a world of possibilities for ourselves. This new edition also features a compelling foreword by Mary Ann Norfleet, PhD, which explores Satir's pioneering approaches to psychology and her enduring legacy in the field of family therapy.

We’d love to hear which books are helping you on your ACA recovery, so that we can share it with the rest of our bookworm members!

⭐️ Next Intergroup meeting

As always, you’re welcome to join us on the last Thursday of every month for our ACA SA Intergroup meeting.

When: Thursday September 29, 2022 from 7-8pm
Where: Zoom [http://bit.ly/aca-sa-intergroup]

Along with the latest updates from our members, we will be reading from the Big Red Book on Tradition 9: “ACA, as such, ought never be organised, but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve.”

That’s all from us for now. We hope that August brings you everything you need to face whatever challenges are around the corner.

“On this day I will recall my first days in ACA and the comfort I found. As I am ready and able to do so, I will continue the tradition of freely giving service to help ensure that what I have received is available to others.” (Strengthening My Recovery, August 16)
