International Day of Older Persons: 1st October 2022

International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) is an annual celebration day established by the United Nations and observed since 1990 on October 1st.

With more than 40,000 people aged 65 and over in Calderdale, Calderdale Council and the Ageing Well Alliance is inviting voluntary and community organisations like yours that support older people to get involved and help celebrate IDOP.

They are looking for brief celebration ideas which are accessible to older people, their carers, family and friends and will promote and celebrate positive images of older people.

A small fund has been made available to help and interested groups should submit their ideas in the form of a short proposal.  Grants of up to £400 are available for celebration events which must take place on or after 1st October but no later than Saturday 12th November.

Small grants can cover costs including:

Event advertisement materials
Refreshments and catering
Entertainment
Venue hire
Discretionary transport.

Events must be open access to new members where possible and organisers will be required to provide images for promotional purposes and a brief post-event summary.

If you would like to get involved, you should submit an expression of interest marked IDOP in the subject line to info@calderdaleforum50plus.com by 5pm on Friday 9th September.  Further detail will be required by Friday 16th September before grants can be awarded by Calderdale Council.
