Hey, UU Parents! The Church Year is beginning again, and it's time to register your kids for Children's Religious Exploration!
This year, our UU theme curriculum is titled "Friendship Finders". Each theme relates to our UU principles, and the goal is to help kids learn that church is a safe and fun place to be! Click HERE to download the September-November curriculum.

FirstU to Host the 2023 National CUC Conference

The conference will take place in person over the May 2023 long weekend at an Ottawa conference centre, and the concurrent youth conference CanUUdle will take place on our campus.

Do you want to dig deeper into what reconciliation means in our faith community - to learn how to identify "colonized values" and explore new ways of relating to each other? Based on the CUC's Reflection Guide, this group invites conversations about how our faith and actions intersect.
Jan Andrews (FirstU) and Claire Heistek (UUFO) will co-facilitate six monthly sessions  starting Sunday, Oct 2nd,
1pm-3pm. Maximum of 12 participants.

The Ajashki project has an indoor garden located in the Volunteer Room, which is growing lettuce, chard, kale and basil. We would love to share the harvest with the congregation. A volunteer will be available after the Sunday service to demonstrate how to harvest without damaging the plants. Please bring a re-usable container for your greens.

Celebration of Life for Don McDiarmid

He is sitting on a lawn chair outdoors.Please join us for a service to celebrate the life of Don McDiarmid, a longtime member of First Unitarian and a founding member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Ottawa. The service will be held at the UUFO, 400 MacArthur Ave. (in-person only), on Sunday, September 11th, 2022 at 2pm.

Sad News


An elderly man with short, white hair, wearing a dark green sweater and a Scottish tam, sits in a leather recliner smiling with amusement at the camera.The Honourable John Reid passed away at May Court Hospice on August 25th after a five year battle with cancer. John has been a summer service speaker in our congregation five times. The last was on June 24th, only a few short months before he died. He is survived by his wife, Marie, four children, and ten grandchildren.

Do allow for time in case there are questions with regard to the announcement. 
Also note that announcements may need to be edited for length and that time-sensitive announcements may be prioritized.

If you would like a stone placed in the water for you during the Joys and Sorrows portion of an upcoming Sunday Service, please email Reverend Ellen by Friday at 10am.
