Wishing Summer Farewell at Gillson Beach
Thanks to all who joined us for our Beach Service last Sunday at Gillson Park! Thanks especially to Jan Wendel, who organized the materials for the service, the food, and all the supplies needed for the picnic afterwards. We appreciate you!

Love good music, good food, and a good cause? We do too! That’s why our fundraiser this year will be delivering just that. GoodFest is coming Saturday, October 1st. It’ll feature the local music and BBQ we love (with some special guest musicians), and a portion of the proceeds will go to a cause near and dear to our hearts: Family Promise. It’ll be a great time!
In order to help make this fundraiser a success, every household at St. John's is encouraged to buy 10 tickets to sell or give away to friends and family members. Tickets can be purchased at the Eventbrite link below. Please also share the Eventbrite on Facebook and via email to anyone who might enjoy an evening of good food, good music, and good company. You’re Invited: Rally Sunday, Sept. 11
Next Sunday, September 11, will be Rally Sunday – a time to regather after the summer and launch our new ministry year! Children will be invited to attend the first day of Sunday School during the worship service. After church, we will have an outdoor Rally Day celebration with snacks and activities. If you have not yet registered your child for Sunday School, please do so by this Wednesday via this link.
Support your Church Family by Hosting Coffee Hour
We treasure the time to socialize after worship each Sunday, and we also welcome the opportunity to serve one another. To make coffee hour possible, one or two volunteers are needed to set up coffee, provide treats, and clean up each week. We ask that everyone sign up to host coffee hour at least one Sunday between now and the end of 2022. If you’ve never done it before, Jan will be happy to teach you. Thank you for your consideration!
Bible Study Begins
Bible Study is tentatively planned to resume on Tuesday, September 13, at 11 am, in person. If you are interested in Bible Study, please let Pastor Allison know if that time works for you and if you would prefer for us to gather in person or on Zoom this fall.
Block Party Tabling on Saturday
Please help us spread the word about our upcoming GoodFest by tabling outside St. John’s during the Wilmette Block Party on September 10. Folks will be walking by our wonderful location, and we’ll be sharing our parking lot that day to help the village out. We need your help staffing a table with GoodFest and Space Sharing info. You can sign up here to help.
