End of Summer Survey

We’ve had so much fun exploring Oceans of Possibilities with you! Through storytimes, STEAM programs, LEGO sessions, special guest performers, and all sorts of teen programs. We hope you’ve found new favorite books, authors, and series with your reading, too. It really helps us to get feedback from you on what worked well for your family, and ideas for ways we can make Summer Reading even better.

Please take a few minutes to complete this survey to give us feedback on Summer Reading and to help us plan for fall programs.

This Weeks Events

Monday August 22nd: LEGOs from 2 - 4 pm in the Children’s Library

Pajama Storytime
Thursday, September 1 @5:00 PM Causland Park
Join us for a fun-filled pajama storytime. We’ll meet outside at Causland Park if it’s warm and dry, inside the Children’s Library if not. Rain or shine, bring your favorite stuffie and snuggle in to celebrate a new school year in our jammies.

Back to School Storytime
Friday, September 2 @10:00AM Cuasland Park
Join library staff for a school-themed storytime in Causland Park! We will share stories, songs, bubbles and fun. In case of rain, we will meet at the library.

Teens - End of Summer Hangout
Wednesday, August 31 from 2:30pm-4:00pm @ The Library
Join us in the Community Meeting Room to find out about fall teen programs, enjoy some pizza, make a few crafts, and play some games. Tell us what you’d like to see in the library for teens this fall, give us ideas for the teen space, and enter the Summer Reading grand prize drawing.

Friends of the Library Booksale - $5 Bag-O-Books!
Friday, September 2 from 10:00AM - 4:00PM
The Friends of the Library will be hosting a Bag-O-Books sale. Get a special bag at the FriendShop and fill it with books, media, and more from the lobby for just $5. All proceeds benefit library programs and collections. Come see what treasures you can stuff into your bag.

Last Call for Prizes

This is the last week for Summer Reading prizes, so please stop by and see us. Prizes for all ages are in the Dr. Sylvia Maxson Children’s Library

All Readers – if you used a paper tracker please bring it with you when you get your prize

-- Kids
If you have reached your goal, stop by the Children’s Desk and choose your prize book. There are books for all ages. We also have our Super Reader signs, and all finishers will be entered into the Grand Prize Drawing on September 7th.

-- Teens
Teens choose between a gift card to Pelican Bay Books or Watermark Book Company. Bring your reading log to the Children’s Desk when you finish.

-- Adult Prizes
We have a fun finishing prize for adults this year, too. Stop by the Children’s Desk when you are ready.

Grand Prize Drawings

We have some wonderful grand prizes this year for every age group. Kids grand prizes are in the display case at the entrance to the Children’s Library, Teens and Adults are in the display case by the copy machine. Special thanks to our friends at Island Optometry for sponsoring the grand prizes again for Summer Reading 2022!

Enter throughout August and the winners will be notified on September 7th.

Holiday Closure - September 3 - 5
The library will be closed Saturday, September 3rd through Monday, September 5th. We wish you a safe and happy Labor Day.

For Families
Mo Willems Day - September 10th
Celebrate Mo Willems’ most popular book characters Elephant, Piggie, the Pigeon, and more. There will be crafts, books, and a fun reading of Mo’s latest book, Pigeon will Ride the Roller Coaster.

For Teens
Teen Acting Class - September 9th @3pm
Whether you are new to acting or have been acting for ages, this is the class for you! All class games and activities will help each student increase their confidence and personal presentation in front of a group. The class will culminate in one evening performance for family and friends. Sign up online at the ACT website: https://acttheatre.com
