The change of seasons brings reflection and excitement.

I'm grateful for summer fun at the 4th of July Party, Farragut Farmers Market, and the Community Social at Paul's. Thank you to the volunteers who made these events happen!

While I'm sad to see summer go, I look forward to cooler temperatures and more opportunities to join together. The GHCA Poplar Trail Committee is hard at work as the city begins design for the renovated path; their work will continue throughout the year.  Navy home football games kick off on September 3rd; you can volunteer to help park cars as a fundraiser for our local schools and read a summary of the Stadium's annual community meeting below. Luminara returns on October 22nd - you won't want to miss this fantastic neighborhood event with lighted creations and music from the Naptown Brass Band. And of course, we hope to see you at our Community Meeting on September 14th. The GHCA board will share updates and collect input from YOU on neighborhood matters. Hope to see you there!

September 14 Community Meeting

Join us for a Community Visioning meeting on September 14 at 6:30 pm at the library. Topics will include updates and opportunities to provide feedback on:
• Poplar Park
• West Street Rezoning
• GHCA Neighborhood future planning (i.e fundraising and College Creek Conservation)

The meeting will primarily be held in person with a virtual option over Zoom however, the second half of the meeting will include breakout group discussions from the various meeting speakers. If you are attending virtually, you will have the opportunity to submit questions to the speakers, and GHCA will send a meeting recap after. We anticipate this meeting to be interactive and want to hear your ideas for the future of our community - so come with your ideas at the ready.

Doors will open at 6 pm to allow for neighborhood socializing until the start of the meeting at 6:30. We anticipate the meeting lasting until 8 or 8:30 pm.

NAAA Neighborhood Meeting

held Wednesday, August 24 at the Navy Stadium

Bill Givens and Chet Gladchuk invited the surrounding neighborhoods to a meeting with the NAAA to discuss the upcoming season and activities planned for the Navy Stadium. Highlights include:
• Football schedule up and available to the public; 5 home games this year, plus the Military Bowl
• Calendar of Events through December 2022 of all activities scheduled for the stadium
• Stadium Operations Center (SOC) number made available for any concerns during events – Bill is the contact person
• New LED lights installed in the stadium which should cut down drastically on neighborhood impact, particularly on Farragut
• Traffic management is always a challenge
• New garden/landscaping area to be developed along the Farragut side of the stadium; will be open to the public and include drinking fountains, benches, and restroom access. To commence after football season ends this year

Both stressed that they want the neighborhoods to engage with NAAA on any issues or problems that are affecting the neighborhoods. Attached is a link to the slide presentation with links and contact

A Note From Studio 39

Studio 39 now has students from 8:30 am to 5 pm Monday-Thursday and until 3 pm on Friday through the middle of June. There will be continuous bus and car drop-offs and pickups throughout the day so please avoid the area during school hours. Due to this increase in students and classes at Studio 39, we now have the opportunity to offer more free performances open to the public so stay tuned for upcoming events! We look forward to having you in the audience.

We welcome your volunteerism, comments, concerns, and questions
