Happy Labor day Weekend!  

I hope you all are enjoying your last “official” weekend of summer. I am sure everyone is thankful for a 3-day weekend after the first full week of school.  We are jumping straight into the school year with activities.

Our Homecoming Dance will be on September 24th.  Students who wish to bring a non-Grimsley guest must complete a guest form by 9/14.  The forms can be found in the Main Office.  The Homecoming Dance is for all students, 9th - 12th grade.  

The PTSA collaborates with our Student Council by providing the coat check for the dance.  This is a fun way to interact with the students, seeing them all dressed up and having fun!  If you would like to volunteer click on the sign-up,  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4BADAD23AAF49-grimsley2 , and reserve your spot. Thank you to Hope Seeber for organizing our coat-check for so many years.  Hope's youngest is a Senior this year and so if you are interested in organizing our check checks in the future please let us know.

  • If your student did not turn in their Chromebook at the end of last school year they need to bring it to Mrs. Worrells ASAP to have it updated.
     
  • September is Attendance Awareness Month! #schooleveryday. We cannot stress enough the importance of making sure students are at school on time and in class everyday!
     
  • Playmasters Auditions: The Grimsley Playmasters will be holding auditions for Freaky Friday: One Act Edition on September 7 and 10 from 5:30 until 7:00 PM in the Grimsley Auditorium. If you’re interested in trying out for the play, please go to GrimsleyTheatre.com to sign up and get your necessary audition materials.
     
  • Grimsley’s Yearbook: The 2022 Whirligig, Grimsley’s yearbook, is on sale right now for $75. Order before September 16, and you’ll be eligible for four free icons. Go to www.jostensyearbooks.com. 
     
  • Grimsley JROTC 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony: Friday, September 9 @ 9:25am, at the Grimsely Flagpole at Main Building.
     
  • Mental Health Club: The Mental Health Club will have their first meeting on Thursday, September 15th in room 302.
 
  • Student Council – for Freshman Students Only: Calling all FRESHMAN leaders! Any freshman student interested in running for a position on the GHS Student Council should pick up an application in the main office. Applications are due by September 9th.   • Homecoming Weekend: Our Homecoming Football Game vs Northwest, September 23rd, Jamieson Stadium. Tickets can be purchased through gofan.co.
     
  • The 2022 Homecoming Dance will be held at Piedmont Hall on September 24th. Guest forms are available for non-Grimsley dates in the main office and are due by September 14th. The form is also available on the Student Council Website.
     
  • Grimsley Picture Days
  • Miles for Matthew: The 14th annual Miles for Matthew will take place on Saturday, September 24. We are looking for runners and volunteers! If interested, please connect with Madame Greiner or visit www.runsignup.com/Miles4Matthew
     
  •  Ultimate Frisbee Club: The Ultimate Frisbee Club meets each Friday after school. See Mr. SanGeorge  in room 411 or add the Remind code @grimsleyul to join the fun!
     
  • GCS Lunch Application – Free or Reduced Lunch
The application window for free school meals is now open. The federal program that provided free meals for students for the past two years is over. Families will now have to apply for free school meals. Filling out an application is easy and can be found on our website or at www.lunchapplication.com .
 
Please call school nutrition services at (336) 370-3266 if you have any questions. 
  • Basketball Interest Meeting: There will be an interest meeting for any young man who would like to tryout for the basketball team this season on Wednesday, September 7th at 4:30pm after school in the auxiliary gym. If you cannot attend, see Coach Corbett in Room 207 in the main building or Coach Wadelington in the Old Cafe.
     
  • Grimsley Athletics

Project Graduation: Save the date!! Project Graduation is a drug and alcohol free celebration for seniors only and it takes place at Grimsley the night of graduation. When GCS announces Grimsley’s graduation date, know that PG will be the same date. There are prizes, games, food and more.
