Annual General Meeting - October 22 at 11:30am EST
To all CFUW members:

The CFUWCT AGM meetings are open to all CFUW, and we extend an invitation to all members to join us at our annual AGM.

These meeting are very brief, about half an hour, and this year it is to be on October 22 at 11:30. It is followed by a speaker – one of our past Fellowship winners – Casey Oliver. She is speaking on an issue that has long been an interest of CFUW: sexual violence. She is scheduled for 1:30.

The connection between CFUW and the Trust is an important one. In essence, the Fellowships provided by the Trust are a concrete demonstration of the importance of the education mandate for CFUW. Our past winners are splendid examples of what the young women of Canada are achieving.  Whenever we hear one of them speak of their work, we are thrilled that CFUW and the CFUW Charitable Trust has been able to provide such important support.

Click here to see the 2022 Annual Report for your information. We would be delighted if you could join us for this meeting.

Our speaker on October 22: Casey Oliver:
B.Sc. Science and Psychology, 2014, University of Waterloo
M.A. Counselling Psychology, 2018, University of Western Ontario
M.A. Clinical Psychology, 2021, Lakehead University
Ph.D. Clinical Psychology, 2021-2025, Lakehead University

Casey’s dissertation focuses on sexual violence that is perpetrated through technology against women. She seeks to better understand whether this type of gender-based violence effects both the mental well-being of women and their use of technology. This could have grave implications for their academic and career participation, especially with the increasingly virtual nature of these settings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In-turn, this research could inform prevention and response strategies, including platform and government policies.
We hope you will join us.

CFUW Welcomes Paige Inglis as the New Advocacy Coordinator

Paige (she/her) recently moved back to Ottawa upon completing her Master’s of Public Policy and Global Affairs at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. She first fell in love with Ottawa when studying International Development and Globalization at uOttawa from 2013-2017. Though originally from Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, she has lived all over – from Nova Scotia, to Taiwan, Ukraine, Germany, Northern BC and Alberta (planting trees). She brings to CFUW her experiences from her travels and non-profit experience supporting advocacy projects on topics such as climate-resilient food systems, food justice, and environmental education. Paige’s personal experience as a woman, her work in Indigenous policy, and her studies around the unique challenges faced by women living in rural areas in the global South, motivated her to want to work with CFUW. In her time outside of work, you can find her hiking with her dog, reading a good book, or gardening.

Feel free to reach out to Paige to say hi or let her know how she can support your advocacy work at advocacy@cfuw-fcfdu.ca.
