    Executive Director

Thank you to those who have reached out to offer to become a bingo volunteer. We truly appreciate it and look forward to continued revenues for Pegasus.

Our dedicated monthly giving to programs has been incredibly beneficial to the SH Armstrong program. With funds directed to this program by donors, they have been able to purchase a large white board, a bingo set and a karaoke machine! These are items we wouldn’t have the budget for, so are very grateful. I look forward to hearing the musical prowess of Participants and staff.

Meetings are all now back in full swing within Pegasus and outside. I continue my role as vice chair of the developmental services Service Provider committee with the plan to become chair next April. This group is made up of all the Executive Directors in Toronto as well as representatives from DSO (Developmental Services Ontario). We work together with the Ministry to best support those in our sector.

Stellar Star Staff

Congratulations to Joyce Poole for being our September Stellar Staff of the Month!

Joyce will have been with Pegasus for one year on October 15! She is currently a relief staff and is always willing to join in all programming. Joyce always comes prepared to programs as she can be called at in last minute. She researches books, activities, movies, etc. that she thinks might engage Participants. Joyce asks thought-provoking questions and has awesome stories to share. Joyce is a huge asset to our relief pool, which makes her this month's Stellar Staff!

Pegasus Incredible Film Festival (PIFF)

PIFF is back on October 22nd at Innis Town Hall Theatre! Tickets will be going on sale in late September.

Donations

Thank you to everyone who has continued to donate through our monthly giving program sponsorships.

You can choose a one-time or monthly donation that goes directly to Beaches, Phoenix, SH Armstrong, and Matty. Through these monthly donations, SH Armstrong has been able to purchase items for their program.

We are also in the midst of placing our first order for the engraved bricks! If you would like to be part of the second order, please go to our Pegasus Lives at Danforth page

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to either make a donation or become a sponsor for PIFF. There is still time to make a donation or become a sponsor. E-mail Tess Murray at tmurray@pegasustoronto.ca for more information.

Board News

The Board met Wednesday, 31 August.

We were joined by the staff of Part-time CFO Financial Services, who walked us through the audited Financial Statements for the 2021/2022 fiscal year. They are now approved.

The Gavin Burns Memorial Fund has been established. It is earmarked for the creation and maintenance of programs for our aging participants.

The PIFF sponsorship package was shared with Board Members. We are all encouraged to reach out to our networks to solicit community support for PIFF.

If you know a company or individual you think may be interested in being a sponsor, ask Paula for the material.

At the Pegasus Picnic, we had an excellent conversation with Mary-Margaret McMahon, our Liberal MPP for Beaches/East York, and her staff. As a result, she presented a Members Statement in The Legislature, about Pegasus.

Here is the link to her statement: https://youtu.be/Z6z_ZrUmNsc

Work is ongoing on:

  • Performance review of our Executive Director;
  • Interviewing candidates for upcoming board vacancies;
  • Reviewing current policies to ensure they meet the provincial government’s ONCA (Ontario Not-for-profit and Charitable Organizations) requirements.
Our next Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, 28 September. To add items to the agenda for upcoming Board meetings, please call or email Paula Murphy at 416-691-5651 or pmurphy@pegasustoronto.ca
