The Back Porch
A Note from our Pastors...
Dear LFPPC Church Family,

It's been a busy but wonderful season behind the scenes here at LFPPC. In the last two weeks, we have interviewed and hired 5 new staff for Pepitas Preschool and we are currently interviewing for two more positions to complete our church staff re-structure. God has led several outstanding folks to our staff team and each of them bring many talents to our ministry. Keep an eye out for Terron (pic below). Terron is a new Pepitas parent and our new Pepitas Morning Music Coordinator. "Big T" plays the drums, keys, and sings. He and his family has just relocated here from Los Angeles and he has already written the students a new welcome song. Please note Pepitas will be starting their gatherings in the Sanctuary this year to accommodate a number of scheduling/staffing needs.

Blessings,
Pastor Laura
We had a false fire alarm on Tuesday this week. The fire department reminded us that everyone must evacuate the building if there is an alarm---even if there clearly is not a fire. They prefer to come and inspect anyway and to turn the alarm off for us. Our fire system is nearly 30 years old will likely need to be updated. Until that time, we may potentially have future false fire alarms. Our B&G group will be investigating our options further.
Our office is closed Monday, September 5th in observance of Labor Day.

They will share their stories and help us put our faith into action.

A Time of Gratitude
After a season of difficult transition, we want to take a moment to publicly thank and express our sincere gratitude to our long-term staff members Jeanne Durham and Jaime Ledger. Cards will be put out on the Welcome Center desk for the congregation to sign and we will have a time of public recognition at our Sept. 4th worship service.
Pastor Nominating Process
We have good news! We believe we are nearly ready to begin the pastor nominating process shortly. The Committee on Ministry of the Northwest Coast Presbytery is considering our formal request to begin the PNC (pastor nominating committee) process at their next meeting. Our LFPPC Nominating Committee has already been preparing and praying for the last several months now and will soon officially be taking nominations and self-nominations to fill our future PNC. Stay tuned. We will have more information in the next few weeks. God already knows who our next pastor is and is at work in this very moment preparing them for their next assignment here at LFPPC.
Volunteers Wanted
  • Musicians-- Particularly those with piano or guitar experience though other instruments welcome. See Jaime Henning for more information.
  • Sound and A/V-- We always need more volunteers to be trained to help with Sunday worship sound as well as the occasional funeral or special event.
  • Godly Play is coming to LFPPC starting September 25th. Godly Play is a worship experience for young children using a Montessori based approach. If you would like to help in this important ministry to young children, please contact Pastor Andrea (andrea@lfppc.org)
Administration
Summer Office Hours
The Church Office will be typically open Monday-Wednesday 9 to 1pm and by appointment. **We appreciate your grace and understanding as we are understaffed at the moment and in the middle of hiring several positions. The quickest way to reach a staff member is by email. Voicemails are being checked periodically by Pastor Laura as she is able**

Annual Meeting + Reports
Save the date for Sept. 25th after worship. Staff/MST Leaders, please send all annual report information to Pastor Laura. We are formatting our reports in a new way this year and appreciate short reports (aim for a paragraph or brief bullet points) and please send any great photos of your ministry (our report will include visuals this year). Deadline to send to Laura is Monday, Sept. 5th.

Check Requests and Reimbursements *NEW*
We have a new process for reimbursements. Please see Pastor Laura or Randy Routh for assistance. All financial inquires may be sent to finance@lfppc.org.

Vacation
The office is closed Monday, September 5th in observance of Labor Day. Pastor Laura will be on vacation next week and Pastor Andrea will be your first point of contact for pastoral emergencies.
Love Your Neighbor
Please be in prayer for the following individuals: Garry Arnold, George Dewey, Hannah Tran, Waldher family, Kathryn Heley, Kathleen Tade, Robin Gabbert, Routh Family (Randy's mom), Loretta Edwards (for her daughter), Travis Zapalac (In chemo for stage 4 Non-Hodkins Lymphoma). Please contact the church office at 206-364-2712 or your pastors if you have prayer requests.

The "Knitting into the Mystery" group has quite a supply of prayer shawls available. Please contact us if you know of someone going through a hard time that would enjoy receiving a hand knitted prayer shawl. To make a request, contact Anne Gowing at 206-910-8505.
Prayer + Care
Our Little Food Pantry is getting lots of action this summer and our supplies are running low. Grab-and-Go items seem to be the most popular such as: granola bars, individual size nuts, pop-top cans, beans etc. Items that require significant preparation are less utilized. Donations can be left in the bin across from Fellowship Hall.
Covid19 Guidance
Masking
Masks are now optional in all spaces including the Pepitas Pre-School. A mask-only and distanced worship space is available in fellowship hall where the worship service is available on the screen for those who desire a higher-precaution worship space. Note: Following worship un-masked congregants from the Sanctuary may come downstairs for coffee and fellowship.
