ANNUAL SCEIN SHOWCASE
On November 9, Cleantech San Diego's Southern California Energy Innovation Network (SCEIN)  will host its annual showcase featuring short presentations from SCEIN startups currently seeking Seed through Series A financing rounds. The presenting companies have cleantech solutions spanning smart grid services, energy services, energy efficiency, renewable energy generation, energy storage, and clean transportation. The SCEIN Showcase is designed to raise the visibility of these highly successful companies with investors, strategic partners, potential customers, and the broader cleantech community. Presenting companies are: ChargeNet Stations, Enersion, Harvest Thermal, Helicoid, igrenEnergi, Ivy Energy, ReJoule, Smartville, VECKTA.

TSX and TSXV invite private high-growth US companies to apply to meet with Canadian capital providers and advisors to explore going public in the next 9 to 18 months. Ideal candidates meet the following criteria:

  • have revenue (could be as early as $1-2M in revenue with high growth potential)
  • are raising Series B+ growth capital in the next year
  • have a strong management team
  • are interested to explore the public venture capital route as an alternative to private venture capital
  • are building a company to eventually list on Nasdaq or NYSE

Department of Energy SBIR/STTR Phase I

The full Funding Opportunity Announcement for the Department of Energy's FY23 SBIR/STTR Phase I Release 1 funding was released earlier this month. The Offices of Advanced Scientific Computing Research, Basic Energy Sciences, Biological and Environmental Research, and Nuclear Physics are participating in this solicitation.

American-Made Challenges: Solar Prize Round 6

Round 6 of the American-Made Solar Prize offers a total of $4.1 million in cash, vouchers, and other prizes for those with bold ideas to revolutionize the solar industry as we know it. The launch of Round 6 begins with the Ready! Contest, in which teams have until October 6 to prepare submissions outlining their solar innovation. Competitors will continue refining their concepts throughout the contests, with the final winners being chosen after the Go! Contest in September 2023.

Competing teams can also participate in the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Contest—which focuses on advancing solar in underserved communities—for additional cash prizes throughout the competition. 

If you have a solar invention or idea that you want to elevate to the next level, you are invited to compete in the Solar Prize Round 6.

San Diego Angel Conference

The San Diego Angel Conference (SDAC) is a 7-month cycle that connects angel investors and entrepreneurs and focuses on a ‘getting to yes’ mindset, a culture, and a philosophy that improves deal flow, strengthens the ecosystem, and activates more angel investment. 

The first four months (starting in September) are dedicated to helping entrepreneurs solidify their foundations and become more investment-worthy. The E-Track events for entrepreneurs are free and available virtually. This effort wraps up with the SDAC application deadline in December. 

Investors then evaluate and analyze applications for the next three months (starting in January). They work together to identify a winner and runners up at the finale in March and investors pool their funds to invest $200,000 in the winning company.
