THE CHAMPION WEEKLY
From the staff of Lane Tech's student newspaper
THIS WEEK'S TOP STORIES

While in past years Lane students would have one more week of summer until a post-Labor Day start, this school year is already in the full swing of things as part of the earliest start in recent CPS history. Assistant Editor Avaani Julka has more on what the early start means for Lane students and how some students are reacting to the change.

While the passing game was non-existent for Lane Tech Football in their season opener, the Champions were able to find enough yardage on the ground for a win. Led by senior Finn Merrill, Lane’s rushing attack put up 35 points on five rushing touchdowns in a 35-26 win over Amundsen. Editor-in-Chief Alex Burstein has a full recap and Managing Editor Ruby Thompson has a photo gallery from the game.

Last week, Lane debuted its new “Sports Leadership Advisory” for junior and senior student-athletes. The group aims to get student-athlete leaders together to work and give input on Lane Tech athletics, according to Assistant Principal Kerri Thompson. Editor-in-Chief Alex Burstein has more on the new advisory.
