Created in tribute to June Callwood, The Casey Awards annually celebrate individuals and organizations across Canada that demonstrate leadership in social justice and commitment to HIV/AIDS. Created in 2008, the inaugural recipient, and inspiration, for the awards was June Callwood, one of the founders of Casey House. The Casey Awards celebrate June’s spirit of innovative leadership.

Celebrating Laurie Edmiston’s career
After nearly two decades of service to CATIE and even more in the broader sector, Laurie Edmiston will be retiring as executive director this summer. CATIE staff and friends are working to pull together a celebration of her career and contributions to the people and communities affected by HIV and hepatitis C across Canada. And we’re inviting you to participate!
- Submit a short self-recorded video answering: (a) How did you first meet or hear about Laurie? (b) What is your favourite Laurie memory? (c) What will you miss most about Laurie when she retires?, and also wishing Laurie a happy retirement! These clips will be edited together into a compilation that will be shared with Laurie and at an upcoming celebration. Contact Renzo Bongiorno for details on how to submit your video.

A team of WHAI Coordinators, along with the PWHAI Team and Loop: Design for Social Good have been working on developing a poster and accompanying social media for International Overdose Awareness Day 2022.
- WHAI poster for IOAD (including versions in both French and English)
- 2 Panel Social Media posts (one version in English, and one in French) - to be posted on or before IOAD (August 31)
- A copy of the Social Media plan with proposed text which we encourage you to adapt to your local context and community need.
- A copy of a letter that WHAI Coordinators will receive in the mail with print copies of the posters (for those of you who have a WHAI Coordinator at your site)

ACT Community Health Forum: Monkeypox Panel and Discussion

Toronto Community Crisis Service Pilot Project: Alternatives for calling the police for mental health crisis

Andrea Westbrook, manager of the Toronto Community Crisis Service Pilot at Gerstein Centre, will present on the development of this Pilot, who is involved in the communities it is intended to serve, and how its been going since its launch in March 2022. Health care professionals and community service workers will learn why they may want to access this program for their clients.
Audience:
This virtual meeting is intended for clinical and non-clinical workers supporting people living with HIV. This includes: HIV Mental Health workers in ASOs and clinical environments, front line support workers, and private practitioners serving HIV positive clients.

Positive Outlook: Creating Hope out of Uncertainty.

Join Kate Murzin in a workshop for volunteers and workers who do support groups. This workshop will explore:
- Service providers’ mental health is directly correlated with the quality of service they provide to the community
- Positive communication, coping strategies (such as grounding) help to manage stress and burnout
- Help is available to support anxiety triggered by living with chronic uncertainty for people living with HIV and their helpers
Audience:
Front line workers who facilitate support groups.

Monkeypox What We Need To Know
Toronto Public Health has developed some new MPOX resources which are now available at webpage: www.toronto.ca/monkeypox
Community agencies and other partners, such as bathhouses, are encouraged to use these materials to help promote MPOX prevention.
General MPOX prevention poster
- Can be used in various settings to inform the public about ways people can reduce their risk.
MPX prevention poster for people who use substances
- Developed in response to questions from community agencies and harm reduction advocates about reducing MPOX transmission in the context of drug use.
MPOX Self-Screening Poster
- Aims to expand awareness of MPX symptoms.
- In particular, bathhouses and other sex-on-venue premises may be interested in displaying this poster at entrances.
Checklist for sex-on-venue premises
- Provides guidance on how to prevent MPOX spread in bathhouses, sex clubs, private sex parties and other venues where sex occurs.

Summarizes basic information about MPOX which can be shared electronically or printed for residents.
