Alpha Course
The next Alpha course will be on Thursday evenings at GBC, starting at 7.30pm, on 22 September. Alpha is a great opportunity to invite friends and neighbours to explore some of the big questions of life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. There’s no pressure and no charge. Everyone will be made very welcome.
May I encourage you to pray and see whether there’s anyone in your sphere of influence who you can invite, and please pray for the team and prospective guests in these coming weeks. I am also looking to put together a dedicated Alpha prayer team who will commit to praying regularly for the course. If you would like to be part of this or if you have any Alpha related questions, please do contact me on 07763 347119 or through the church office. Carolyn

Wanted – your support for Kairos
With your help, Jesus can set the prisoner free

What is Kairos? A 30-year-old international ministry, the prison version of the 4th day movement. A mixed-gender ecumenical team go into a prison for a week to bring a group of prisoners to Jesus.
Where and when? A team will go into HMP Littlehey during the week 10-14 October 2022
What support is required?
Prayer: For the organising of the ministry, prison chaplains, prisoners and staff.
Cookies: Part of the ministry is to provide cookies for the prisoners to demonstrate that people on the outside have prayed and provided for them. We use a limited range so that the prisoners receive consistent treatment and recipes and instructions can be provided.
Accommodation: The team members need to assemble daily at Perry Baptist Church at 07.00 and won’t finish until 19.00. Therefore, we don’t want them to have to drive far, and to be accommodated locally. They will be provided with all meals so just need a bed and bathroom facilities in Christian homes.
Pennies: Each ministry costs about £2,500 for meals, materials and other administrative overheads. You can donate by SMS, text KAIROS to 70085 to donate £3. This costs £3 plus a std rate message. Alternatively, you can opt to give any whole amount up to £20; e.g. texting KAIROS 5 to 70085 donates £5. Please note that when typing KAIROS, it is not case sensitive, and it doesn’t matter if a space precedes the donation amount. Cheques can be made payable to ‘Kairos UK East Anglia’ can be sent to: Kairos Prison Ministry, c/o Willingham Baptist Church, George St., Willingham, CB24 5LJ, NB: For Cheques of £10+
we can claim Gift Aid. Kairos Prison Ministry (UK) is a Registered Charity No. 1071446.
Who do I contact? If you think you will be able to bake cookies or provide accommodation, please contact the team co-ordinator David Pickavance at david.pickavance1@outlook.com or on 07902 867603. Further information about Kairos is available at www.kairosprisonministry.org.uk.
